Netherlands vs. France Betting Tips: 16/1 Bet Builder for huge Group B encounter
Friday 13th October may be an unlucky day for some, but in 2023 this date provides us with an international gem between Netherlands and France, who will both be eyeing up a statement win in their Euro 2024 qualifying Group B.
France can secure their spot at next summer's tournament with a win or a draw, while Netherlands will be hoping to keep the battle for top spot alive.
World Cup runners-up France have so far taken maximum points from their five matches in Group B, which includes a 4-0 hammering of Netherlands in March.
In fact, Didier Deschamps' side haven't even conceded a goal yet, although this record will be put to the test in Amsterdam on Friday night.
Netherlands responded to the rout in France by recording three wins over Gibraltar, Greece, and the Republic of Ireland. With a game in hand on table-toppers France, they now have the chance to reduce the gap between the countries to three points, and potentially give themselves a little bit of breathing space as they are currently tied with Greece on nine points.
However, it's France who BoyleSports have favoured in the match market at 23/20, Netherlands are 11/5 to claim an important win, while a draw can be backed at 12/5.
Netherlands vs France Tips
Not only have France enjoyed a perfect return of 15 points from five qualifying games, but they can draw on a very one-sided record against Netherlands, who they have beaten in six of the last seven encounters.
This does, of course, include the aforementioned 4-0 pasting at the Stade de France, courtesy of early goals from Antoine Griezmann and Dayot Upamecano followed by a Kylian Mbappe brace.
Deschamps' squad is absolutely jam-packed with talent, experience, and pedigree. They have won eight of their last nine competitive clashes with the only defeat in that time on penalties to Argentina in the World Cup final.
In contrast, Netherlands have lost four of their last seven matches to France, Argentina, Croatia, and Italy. The wins were expected against Gibraltar, Greece, and the Republic of Ireland. On top of that they are missing a few key players such as Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay, Sven Botman, Jurrien Timber, Matthijs de Ligt, and Frenkie de Jong.
At 23/20, I'm backing the visitors to seal their Euro 2024 place by stamping a sixth successive Group B win on the board.
It's also worth noting that if your selection goes two goals ahead, BoyleSports will settle the bet as a winner immediately.
I'm combining a France victory with a Kylian Mbappe goal and a card for Virgil van Dijk to form a 16/1 Bet Builder with BoyleSports.
The reasons for a Les Bleus win can be read in the above section.
As for Mbappe, he hardly needs an introduction.
The 24-year-old has accrued four goals in five qualifying games, and seven goals in his last six competitive games for his country, including a hat-trick in the World Cup final and a brace in the 4-0 defeat of Netherlands.
At club level, he's already fired in seven Ligue 1 goals this term, plus the opener in the 2-0 Champions League win over Dortmund.
I also like the price of 7/2 for Virgil van Dijk to be carded, which boosts this Bet Builder to 16/1.
Van Dijk isn't usually a magnet for cards, however, he was uncharacteristically sent off for Liverpool against Newcastle earlier this season, and was again booked against Spurs two weeks ago.
The defender picked up a yellow in his country's 3-0 win over Greece in September and is likely to be in for a very tough evening against the likes of Mbappe, Griezmann, Giroud, and Dembele.
