Five defeats from the last six fixtures has resigned Joe Edwards' Lions to being involved in this season's Championship relegation picture, hovering just four points from danger. They'll need a better performance and result than November's 3-1 defeat in this fixture, when the visitors were 2-0 down inside 12 minutes and had almost a quarter of the efforts than Ipswich managed.
The Tractor Boys have slipped from occupying the second automatic promotion place to now sitting four points adrift of Southampton in 4th. It's been five matches since Town last tasted victory, suffering two losses during this time, including an eyebrow-raising 2-1 FA Cup fourth round defeat to sixth tier Maidstone United at Portman Road.
Millwall vs Ipswich Tips
Although Nathan Broadhead has been a lot busier and more clinical in front of goal on the opposing wing for Ipswich, Wes Burns is right up there with him for shots on target. Despite letting off 19 fewer shots and scoring six goals fewer than his fellow winger, Burns has registered 13 shots on target to Broadhead's 15 in the league.
The 29-year-old Welshman, whose 19 goal contributions helped secure promotion for Ipswich last season, has met this line 10 times in the Championship, holding a shot on target in three of his last five outings.
This matchup pits the division's third-highest shot takers (470) and the team to register the fifth-most shots on target (160) in Ipswich against Millwall, who've faced 390 shots and seen 119 of those call upon the goalkeeper's services. Town had 19 efforts in the reverse fixture, finding the target seven times. At above evens for an attacker to have a shot on target we feel there's good value in backing Wes Burns in this department.
Ipswich have been a consistently great source for entertainment and goals since their promotion, scoring 55 and conceding 40 in 30 matches. It's a trend that began almost immediately upon their return in August and hasn't let up much in the following five months.
Only Leicester hold a better win & BTTS record than Kieran McKenna's men, who've achieved success with this proposition in 33.3% of their league matches. Wednesday's visitors have scored in 26 of their 30 games, with Millwall being one of the 10 opponents this bet landed against.
For the hosts, BTTS has been recorded in four of their last six, having scored in each of these matches at The Den. They've also lost seven times on home turf, while Ipswich have come away with no points in away matches on just three occasions.
