Marseille vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez tipped in huge Champions League clash
You simply can’t take your eyes off Group D, which draws to an undoubtedly dramatic climax on Tuesday night. All four teams can still progress through to the knockout stages, including leaders Tottenham, who travel to Marseille needing a point to secure their spot in the last-16.
Below we preview the game at the Stade Vélodrome, picking out two tips…
Marseille vs Tottenham Tips
Group D couldn’t be more delicately poised as we enter into the final wave of group stage matches this week. Tottenham are top on 8 points, followed by Sporting CP and Frankfurt on 7 points, then Marseille are bottom on 6 points.
It’s been a chaotic week for Spurs who thought they had booked their knockout place after scoring an injury-time winner against Sporting CP, only to be denied by VAR. This was followed by a dramatic 3-2 win at Bournemouth on Saturday as they clawed their way back from two goals down.
Spurs now make the trip to France knowing that they will progress if they avoid defeat away to Marseille. They can top the group should they win - regardless of the outcome of Sporting CP and Frankfurt - while they can also finish 1st if they draw and the other game also ends in a draw. However, the Londoners can’t exactly draw on a promising away record in the competition, having failed to win or even score on the continent this term. They will also be without boss Antonio Conte who will serve a touchline ban.

Opponents Marseille, who have lost three and won none of their last four games in all competitions, go into Tuesday’s duel knowing that a win in front of their own fans will send them through to the knockout stages, while it could even be enough to see them finish top of the pile should the honours be shared in Portugal. However, a draw will not be enough to qualify.
Marseille, managed by Igor Tudor, are priced at 2/1 to record that prized win on Tuesday night, with Conte’s Spurs 7/5 to bag all three points, whereas a draw can be found at 13/5.
The nerves will be jangling in both dressing rooms as the teams prepare to step out to the field on Tuesday night. It’s sure to be an eventful and action packed occasion played out in front of a passionate and raucous crowd who will be spurring their side on while creating an imitating atmosphere for the visitors.
Given what’s at stake, we’re expecting an open match. As the drama unfolds, goals could come freely at the Stade Vélodrome, which leads us to the first bet: Both Teams To Score and over 2 goals at 21/20 with bet365.
Tottenham have been vulnerable at the back in recent weeks, conceding in each of their last four games, giving Bournemouth two goals last weekend, with BTTS landing in each of their previous three matches.
Marseille have also failed to keep a clean sheet in four games. Their last two games have contained a combined seven goals, with BTTS occurring in each.
One player Tottenham fans will be fearing could play a big part in scuppering their knockout plans is ex-Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez switched Inter Milan for Marseille in the summer and has since scored seven goals this season for club and country, including three in his last seven games. Two of those goals have come in the Champions League.
The Chilean, who was rested over the weekend, has racked up 11 shots in his last three Champions League games, hitting the target twice apiece in the home and away games against Sporting. At 3/1 I really like the look of the ex-Gunner to once again to cross this mark with over 1.5 shots on target against his former rivals.
Pair this with the 6/5 on offer for Harry Kane in the same market and you get a nice 8/1 double with bet365. Kane has been in superb form this season, bagging 12 goals for club and country; seven of which have come in his last 11 matches; while VAR denied him a dramatic winner last week against Sporting CP.
