Manchester United vs. Nottingham Forest Betting Tips: Best bets as The Tricky Trees travel to Old Trafford
Two top-flight matches take place on December 27th and we've got Tom Winch here to provide us with his best bets for Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest.
After a lengthy break due to the winter World Cup in Qatar, Premier League action is back with games coming thick and fast over the festive period. Erik ten Hag’s side welcome Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night as both sides will look to record a positive result at Old Trafford.
These clubs haven’t met since the 1998/1999 season where the Red Devils were crowned champions whilst Forest finished rock bottom, the scoreline in the most recent meeting finished 1-8 in favour of Alex Ferguson’s men, but we can definitely expect the scoreline to be a lot closer in just a few days time.
Manchester United vs. Nottingham Forest Tips
For my first selection, I’m combining a forward from either side to have an attempt on goal with the Manchester United man to find the target which pays a rather reasonable 4/5 with Bet 365.
Despite Forest being the joint second lowest scorers in the division, Welshman, Brennan Johnson has had plenty of goal attempts this campaign. The 21 year-old has featured in every single game for his club so far this season, he’s started in 13 games from 15 for the newly promoted side.
In those 13 starts, Johnson has had at least a single shot in 11 of those matches - clashes against Fulham and the opening day defeat to Newcastle were the only two games he failed to register an attempt. His brace against Blackburn in the cup just six days prior to this match will provide confidence to the youngster.
We all know just how good Marcus Rashford can be on his day, he scored three times in 141 World Cup minutes and scored on his return to club football in a 2-0 win over Burnley midweek.
The 25 year old has played 14 times this season in the Premier League, featuring as a sub just once and has 13 shots on target in that time averaging to one every 87 minutes or so. Marcus should be full of confidence heading here in a game where the hosts should be creating plenty of chances.
Sticking with the Rashford theme here as I’m backing him to find the score-sheet combined with his side to collect maximum points in-front of the home fans.
The hosts are as big as 3/10 to win here which doesn’t provide much value whatsoever, backing the man in form changes that. Despite only scoring four times in the Premier League this campaign, Rashford is the clubs leading goalscorer and is often referred to as a ‘confidence player’.
In terms of expected goals (xG) Nottingham Forest boast the worst record on the road in attacking and defensive areas. They accumulate just 0.74 (xG) and concede 2.26 (xGA) on average on away trips across seven matches. They have earned just two points in those seven outings and in that time have scored just a single goal.
