Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest Betting Tips: Two shots based tips as the Premier League new-boys travel to the Champions

After 45 minutes on Saturday, it seemed that Crystal Palace were up to their old tricks away at the Etihad. Step forward, Erling Haaland, to ruin the Eagles’ dreams for the game, as the Norwegian Meat Shield delivered a superb second half hat-trick, to keep the Champions in second place.
Man City vs Nottingham Forest Tips
And so, we look forward to Wednesday night, where Pep Guardiola’s super squad play host to their second promoted team of the season, as Premier League new-boys Nottingham Forest make the trip over to Manchester for arguably their toughest test so far. As ever with Guardiola and City, the question remains over who will play, with a busy September schedule coming up. Erling Haaland has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, but it’s thought that Pep may be tempted to rest him against either Forest or Villa.
The resting of Haaland would likely mean a start for new boy Julian Alvarez, and the inclusion of full-back Sergio Gomez may be another to keep an eye on. Pep has actually commented in his press conference today on the potential start of Haaland, replying to a journalist with a classic line; “Tomorrow you will see.”
For Forest, they put up another spirited display at home to Spurs on Sunday, and were arguably unlucky to come away with a 2-0 defeat. Forest fans will look to this game as more of a free-for-all, with more important fixtures at home to the likes of Bournemouth and Fulham to come in the weeks that follow.
Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi is the latest of a boatful of new arrivals at the club, and could be thrown in at the deep end against the talented City forward line. Forest have had a day less than City to prepare for this fixture, and will no doubt look to do everything to hold the Champions at bay.
As ever at BettingOdds.com, we’ve dived into the fixture, and picked out two tips to keep an eye out for on Wednesday evening.
Staying away from Pep’s vague comments about his forward line, we’re looking to Man City’s midfield anchor to record over 1.5 shots on Wednesday night. Barring their game against Palace, Rodri recorded at least one shot in his opening three Premier League games, with two landing against Bournemouth, and a whopping four against Newcastle.
With Forest expected to sit deep as most sides do at the Etihad, the Spanish holder will have license to slowly creep up the pitch, as the majority of the players on the field are expected to be camped inside the away side’s half. One thing the City #16 is now stranger to is shots from distance, and if there’s any tension creeping in amongst the City faithful, the Spaniard will have no qualms about shooting from distance. Bet365 are offering a price of 6/5 for him to record over 1.5 against the newcomers.
Next up, we’re looking at Forest starboy Brennan Johnson to record one or more shots on target against the Champions.
There was plenty expected of Johnson after a stellar Championship campaign last season, and he’s started off well in the top flight.
So far in his four games he’s managed one goal, coming from six shots, with two of them hitting the target. In each of his last three games he’s registered two shots on goal, and with Forest expected to play on the counter on Wednesday, his pace in behind could see him causing City problems. He managed a shot on target against West Ham and Everton, and after the previously mentioned season in the second tier last time out, where he scored 18 goals from 95 shots, 41 of which were on target, he’ll have no worries about firing on Ederson, who has been sketchy in goal for City recently.
Best of luck if you’re following these bets, and please gamble responsibly.
