Man Utd vs. Copenhagen Betting Tips: Two stats-based bets for Champions League clash

Manchester United host Copenhagen this week in a crucial Champions League fixture. Scott Thornton is on the case of covering this game for us, complete with his two best bets for the action.
Erik Ten Hag’s side are one of five teams who have failed to pick up a single point in the Champions League thus far and failure to win here would put their place in the competition in jeopardy.
Injuries remain a real concern for Manchester United. Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are out and have left the Red Devils relying on the likes of Johnny Evans and Harry Maguire in defence. Casemiro is suspended and Jadon Sancho’s exile from the squad looks set to spark his exit.
Copenhagen have a few players ruled out of the trip. Birger Meling, William Clem, Noah Sahsah and Nicolai Boilesen are all absent.
Man Utd vs Copenhagen Tips
Manchester United continued to stumble despite their win over Sheffield United at the weekend. Performances have been below par since the start of the season and Erik Ten hag’s side are yet to put in a convincing display as we approach their 13th competitive fixture.
United’s league wins over Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Burnley and Sheffield United have all had an element of luck and there has been a lack of cohesion on the pitch. The injury crisis has undoubtedly impacted performances but the lack of identity in terms of playing style is evident for all to see.
Ten Hag knows his side needs to turn a corner soon. Pressure will likely increase on the Dutchman if his team languishes outside the top four for too long and the Manchester United board haven’t been afraid to pull the trigger on a manager since Sir Alex departed. However, ten Hag still has credit in the bank after the success of last season and he will be hoping his side can turn over a new leaf at home to Copenhagen.
Copenhagen aren’t having it all their own way in their domestic league. They remain top but have just a one-point cushion over 2nd place after two wins in their last five league matches. They picked up a point away to Galatasaray in their first Champions League match and another here would be a huge bonus.
United are struggling for form and with that in mind, the first angle for our bet builder is throws in the match. The Red Devils have struggled to control long periods of matches thus far and this has inflated the throws count in their matches. Their Champions League matches so far have seen 38 and 40 throws. There has been at least 40 throws in their last three competitive matches at Old Trafford.
Copenhagen’s Champions League matches have also seen plenty of throws. There were 37 in their home match against Bayern Munich. Their trip to Galatasaray saw 54 throws.
This match is must win for United, so expect them to get plenty of shots away. Despite their poor performances this season, they are still averaging 16.71 shots per game at Old Trafford. These sides squared off in European competition in 2020 and the Red Devils had 17 shots.
For our long shot bet we are backing the same angles as the main bet builder with increased lines.
This bet landed with ease in Manchester United’s last competitive home match against Brentford. There were 47 throws in that match as the home side racked up a total of 21 shots. Ten Hag’s side have struggled to create clear-cut chances this season and they are likely to tee off in pursuit of a crucial goal if the scores are level going into the 2nd half.
