Man United vs Chelsea Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: Back This 3/1 Bet Builder on the Blockbuster Sunday Main Event
Live on Sky Sports, Manchester United go up against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea in the Premier League this Sunday at the Old Trafford Stadium.
Man United vs Chelsea Predictions
The Reds sacked their manager Erik Ten Haag after going down 2-1 to West Ham after a 92nd minute controversial penalty as they sit 14th in the league table with just three wins in nine games so far this season. Interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy took charge of the team in their midweek cup game against Leicester City which saw them score five goals to book their spot in the EFL Cup quarterfinals against Tottenham.
As for Chelsea, they sit fifth in the league table with 17 points from nine games, just one points behind the Champions League spots as they look to inflict further damage to Manchester United’s league campaign. After a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in the league, they were knocked out by them in the league cup on Wednesday as they fielded a heavily rotated lineup. They have claimed nine points from their four away games so far this season so they have been good on their travels. However, this is a fixture United have been extremely dominant in recent seasons as the last time Chelsea beat them at Old Trafford was 11 years ago in 2013.
History is on United’s side but Chelsea have been by far the better team so far this season and they will look towards their star man Cole Palmer to deliver the goods once again as they make this tough trip to Manchester.
A blockbuster Sunday main event awaits us, and I have included my two best bets for the clash in the preview below:
Team News:
- Leny Yoro, Malacia, Maguire, Mainoo, Antony, Luke Shaw & Mason Mount are out for Manchester United.
- Jadon Sancho is out for Chelsea as he cannot feature against his parent club.
I covered Chelsea’s trip to Anfield with two of these three selections and we delivered a full house. Aiming to keep it along similar lines and hopefully we can land back to back full houses.
Moises Caicedo is averaging the most fouls (1.9) and tackles (3.6) for Chelsea so far this season. He has committed a foul in eight of his nine Premier League appearances this season, failing to commit a foul in the only game that he didn’t play 90 minutes in. He committed three fouls in his visit to the Old Trafford last season and being an aggressive tackler, I expect him to commit at least a couple more fouls on Sunday against a United side looking to turn around their season.
As for Gusto, he is averaging the second most tackles (2.6) for Chelsea this season. He has registered at least two tackles in five of his seven league appearances and also hit two tackles the last time he came up against Manchester United. He will be up against the likes of Garnacho and Rashford who love to take their man on so there will be ample opportunities for him to put in two tackles.
Cole Palmer is Chelsea’s top scorer with seven goals and is also averaging the most shots for Chelsea this season (3.2). He scored a hat-trick against United at Stamford Bridge last season, accumulating a huge nine shots and then scored again against them at Old Trafford. He is also on free kicks and penalties which gives this selection a major boost.

We landed this higher odds betbuilder last week and I am confident we can go back to back on them this weekend.
Caicedo has committed two or more fouls in his last four consecutive Premier League games and will be up against the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Ugarte in the midfield battle. He is averaging close to two fouls per game and in an away game against a tough opponent, he will be expected to put in aggressive tackles and make cynical fouls on the break.
As for Gusto, he has hit three or more tackles in four of his seven league games so far this season. As already mentioned, he will be up against players who love to dribble which presents opportunities for tackles so his tackle numbers are expected to be high in this game. He registered two tackles against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last season but considering United will be expected to have more of the ball here at Old Trafford, I expect Gusto to be busy doing the defensive duties a lot more.
Combining these two selections gives us a cracking longshot betbuilder @ 3/1 and we will take that as our second bet for this massive Sunday main event.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
