Ahead of this weekend's matches, Pep Guardiola’s men sit second in the Premier League table, just one point behind league leaders Liverpool and are in brilliant form going into this massive Manchester Derby.
Since the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa back in December, City have won 16 and drawn two of their last 18 games in all competitions. They were ruthless in their FA Cup 5th round meeting against Luton in midweek, hammering them 6-2 as Erling Haaland scored five goals, while Kevin De Bruyne registered four assists.
As for United, they were on a run of four wins on the bounce in the Premier League before being pegged back by Fulham who beat them at Old Trafford through a dramatic 97th minute winner.
However, the good run of form overall has seen them climb up to sixth in the league table, just three points behind Tottenham who occupy the Europa League spot.
Erik Ten Hag’s men have a giant task at their hands as they will be missing a number of key men, including their main man Rasmus Hojlund who had scored seven goals in his last six appearances for the club.
The recent head-to-head record between these two sides at the Etihad Stadium is fairly balanced, with both City and United winning three games each but with City clicking into gear at the business end of the season, it is hard to see United posing too much of a threat this time around.
An enthralling Manchester Derby awaits us and I have included my two best bets below.
Manchester Derby Team News
Jack Grealish is out for Manchester City while Josko Gvardiol is doubtful.
Anthony Martial, Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Rasmus Hojlund, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are out for Manchester United, while Harry Maguire is doubtful.

Bet Builder Selections
- Match result will be Man City
- Bruno Fernandes - Over 0.5 fouls committed
- Diogo Dalot - Over 0.5 tackles
Man City are just one point behind the league leaders Liverpool so come into this game fully motivated and on a brilliant run of form with 16 wins in their last 18 games in all competitions.
This is the part of the season where Guardiola’s teams really click into gear and start demolishing teams. We saw a trailer of that against Luton in the 6-2 win in midweek and I fear for this United side who were very average in the 2-1 loss to Fulham last time out where they could have easily conceded more goals.
The last three meetings at Etihad have seen scorelines of 2-1, 6-3 and 4-1 in favour of Man City and I expect that run to continue as City aim to go top of the table.
As for Bruno Fernandes, he has committed at least one foul in 15 of his last 16 league appearances for United and the last time he came up against City he committed three fouls and was also shown a yellow card. He has a tendency of putting in aggressive tackles against the big sides and that trend should continue here.
Finally, Diogo Dalot has been impressive for United so far this season in the right back position, averaging 2.1 tackles per game and has registered at least one tackle in 16 of his last 17 league appearances for the club. He will most likely be up against Jeremy Doku or Jack Grealish who both love to dribble their way into the box so just one tackle should be a banker here.
Combining these three selections gives us a solid betbuilder at 4/5 and we will take that as our main bet for this game with a 1pt stake.
With Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne now back fit for City, it will be hard for the opposition teams to stop them from scoring.
Haaland has already scored 17 goals in just 20 league appearances so far this season and scored twice when he came up against United earlier this season.
As for De Bruyne, he has assisted 10 times in his nine appearances for City since returning from injury. As mentioned earlier, Haaland scored five and De Bruyne assisted four goals in the midweek win against Luton so we will follow the trend and back them to get a goal and assist each here.
Finally, Bruno Fernandes is United’s most booked player with eight yellow cards to his name and loves a cynical foul. He was booked in the reverse fixture as well as the last time United played City at the Etihad so adding him to get another caution makes perfect sense.
Combining these three selections gives us a cracking longshot and I am happy to stake a small 0.25pt on it as our second bet for this massive game on Sunday.
