Man City vs Man United Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: Best bets for Sunday's Manchester Derby
Manchester City lock horns with their rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday in the Premier League, live on Sky Sports at 4:30pm.
Man City vs Man United Predictions
Pep Guardiola’s men are going through a dreadful run of form, tasting seven defeats in their last 10 games in all competitions and winning just once against Nottingham Forest.
Sitting eight points behind leaders Liverpool, the Citizens are only clinging onto a top-four spot with both Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest just two points behind them.
Despite all their recent struggles, they are still a formidable force at the Etihad Stadium, losing just once here this season in all competitions and they will see this as the perfect opportunity to get back on track by winning the Manchester Derby.
As for the visitors, this will be new manager Ruben Amorim’s first taste of the Manchester Derby after losing back-to-back Premier League games against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest. They sit 13th in the league table with 19 points, eight points behind the all-important Champions League spots.
They have struggled on the road this season, winning just once in their seven away games against rock-bottom Southampton and this will be one of their toughest games of the season despite City’s recent poor run of form. However, they did beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final at the end of last season in a narrow 2-1 win so will be aiming to cause another upset.
A mouth-watering Premier League clash awaits us, and I have included my two best bets for the clash in the preview below:
Matheus Nunes has committed 13 fouls in just five Premier League starts for Manchester City this season, averaging 2.6 fouls/game in those five games. He has now committed a foul in all nine of his starts across the Premier League and the Champions League. Having come off the bench to play just three minutes against Juventus in midweek, he will be expected to play the full 90 minutes and Guardiola has hinted at him starting as a full back which could potentially be a great matchup against Garnacho or Diallo.
Kobbie Mainoo has been a major presence for Amorim’s united in the heart of midfield, averaging 1.5 fouls per game for Manchester United this season. Apart from the game against Tottenham where he played just 45 minutes, he has committed at least one foul in seven of his eight Premier League starts and was booked against Manchester City for a cynical foul in the FA Cup final at the end of last season.
Kevin De Bruyne has attempted at least one shot in all nine of his Premier League appearances this season and he is averaging three shots per game at the Etihad Stadium this season. He has been out for a long time due to injury but is now back fit and will be expected to play close to 90 minutes. He has also attempted at least one shot in 11 of his 12 Premier League starts against Manchester United.
Combining these three selections gives us a solid Bet Builder @ 17/20 and backing with Paddy Power means if either of our player gets substituted, the bet will roll onto the oncoming player.

For my second pick, I will be taking higher lines on all three selections of the Bet Builder.
Matheus Nunes has committed two or more fouls in four of his five Premier League starts this season, averaging 2.6 fouls per game and as I mentioned above, he will be expected to play the full 90 minutes.
Apart from the Tottenham game where he was subbed after playing just 45 minutes, he has committed two or more fouls in five of his eight Premier League starts and will be expected to contain the likes of Kevin De Bruyne playing in that defensive midfield position.
As for goals, Manchester City have scored two or more goals in five of their last six head to head meetings against Manchester United in the Premier League and also scored two or more goals in six of their last eight home games in all competitions this season. Ruben Amorim’s side have also conceded two goals in their last three consecutive games against Viktoria Plzen, Nottingham Forest & Arsenal so City will try and take advantage of their defensive issues.
Kevin De Bruyne has attempted two or more shots in five of his six Premier League starts this season, registering at least two shots in all three starts at the Etihad Stadium in this competition. The last time he faced Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, he attempted five shots on goal and has overall attempted two or more shots in 10 of his 12 starts against the Reds.
Combining these three selections gives us a cracking long shot @ 6/1 and backing with Paddy Power means if either of our player gets substituted, the bet will roll onto the oncoming player.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
