These two teams faced each other in the opening fixture of this Premier League season with Man City coming out the comfortable 3-0 winners. In August, Clarets boss Vincent Kompany was being touted as a future potential manager at The Etihad, however everything has not gone to plan for Burnley who sit 19th in the table having collected a measly 12 points from 21 league matches this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are five points behind league leaders Liverpool heading into the latest round of midweek fixtures. City do have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s side and remain the favourites at just 4/6 to make it four consecutive league titles.
Manchester City vs Burnley Tips
I feel I’ve uncovered a bit of a gem in the shots on target market provided by BetMGM who have generously priced Bernardo Silva to have at least one in the game at 49/50.
The five-time Premier League winner has been playing in a more advanced role in recent weeks and is currently on a streak of six consecutive starts where he has hit the target at least once. In that period Silva has recorded shots on target totals of 1,2,1,1,2,1.
Sky Bet have this selection of Silva to hit the target priced at 1/3, while BetVictor go even shorter at 2/7, giving plenty of appeal to the almost even-money offering from BetMGM.
The last 12 meetings between these two teams have all resulted in wins for City. In that period Burnley have been hammered on several occasions with a remarkable aggregate score of 43-1 across those 12 matches.
Manchester City have kept a clean sheet in their last seven against Burnley and have won four of the last six matches against them at the Etihad by a score of 5-0. Burnley are winless in 16 top-flight away games against Manchester City (D5 L11) since a 5-2 victory in March 1963.
Pep’s men have won seven games on the bounce across all competitions, and they look to be on the start of a run which could see them position themselves for a potential treble. The potential returns of Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland could further bolster their chances of racking up the goals against a Burnley side who look destined to be relegated.
