Man City vs. Man Utd Betting Tips: Two Picks for an action packed Manchester Derby

Live on Sky Sports, Champions Manchester City host bitter rivals Manchester United in the Premier League this Sunday at 2pm at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola’s men currently sit second in the league table, just one point behind Arsenal who face rivals Tottenham on Saturday. With at least one of Arsenal and Tottenham guaranteed to drop points, the Citizens will look at this game as an opportunity to climb to the top of the table with a win.
Manchester Derby Tips
They have been ruthless at home in the premier league so far this season winning all three games scoring 14 goals and conceding just two. After doing a double over Manchester United last season and beating them 4-1 at the Etihad, City will be going into this game full of confidence hoping for their star man Erling Haaland to continue his goalscoring streak. The visitors sit fifth in the league table on 12 points, five behind City with a game in hand.
After losing their first two league games, United have bounced back in emphatic fashion winning 4 league games on the bounce which will give them massive confidence ahead of this mouth watering derby. They will also take confidence from the fact that they have a brilliant recent record at the Etihad, winning their last 3 out of 4 games at this venue in all competitions. I expect a toughly contested derby and will steer clear of any result based bets in my preview.
A massive Manchester Derby awaits us, and as usual I have you covered with 2 of my best betting angles for this game included in the preview below:
Team News:
John Stones & Kalvin Phillips are out for Manchester City while Aymeric Laporte is doubtful.
Harry Maguire & Brandon Williams are out for Manchester United while Martial, Rashford, Martin Dubravka, Wan-Bissaka & Donny van de Beek are doubtful.
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Cancelo; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Foden, Haaland, Grealish
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford
- Diogo Dalot Over 1.5 tackles
- Over 1 cards in the 2nd half for both teams combined
Diogo Dalot is averaging 2.3 tackles per game for Manchester United and has been one of their best players so far this season. He has had 9 tackles in his last 2 away games and will be expected to play 90 minutes. He could potentially be up against Grealish which should enhance his chances of getting tackles and I think he can comfortably get at least 2 tackles for our betbuilder.
For the 2nd selection, I am expecting a heated 2nd half full of tackles flying in and some tactical fouls. Michael Oliver usually keeps the cards in his pocket in the 1st halves of most games but dishes them out in the 2nd half. He took charge of a Manchester Derby last season showing 3 cards in the 2nd half but just 2 will be enough for us here. Combining these 2 selections gives us a solid betbuilder @ 4/5 and I am happy to stake 1pt on that as our main bet.
Manchester City have some important absences in defence with John Stones and Laporte both out for this game and United have won 4 on the bounce including wins over Liverpool and Arsenal. City have enough firepower in attack to breach the United defence multiple times with Haaland in the form of his life and also scored in both halves at the Etihad last season against United. This could lead to a potential goal-fest with both teams finding the back of the net so I am happy to back this longshot @ 11/1 with a small 0.25pt stake as our final bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
