Man City vs. Chelsea Betting Tips: Two angles for FA Cup third round showstopper

Live on BBC, Manchester City host Chelsea in this FA Cup 3rd round clash at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday at 4.30pm.
Tipster Wizard has previewed the match and picked out two of his best bets...
Man City last won this tournament in the 2018/19 season and will be favourites to lift the trophy this time around with Pep Guardiola comfortably having the strongest squad in the league at his disposal.
These two sides locked horns against each other just a few days ago in the Premier League with Manchester City picking up all three points with a narrow 1-0 win.
The visitors have won just once in their last six games in all competitions under Graham Potter and are also suffering from an injury crisis with as many as seven first team players out.
Guardiola’s men have already knocked Chelsea out of the League Cup earlier this season and have beaten them in their last four consecutive meetings in all competitions.
Both managers will look to rotate their squad in the midst of a busy schedule but City’s squad depth means they will come into this cup game as firm favourites.
An exciting cup clash awaits us, and as usual I have you covered with 2 of my best betting angles below:
Team News:
Ruben Dias is out for Manchester City while Laporte is doubtful.
Kante, James, Mendy & Broja are out for Chelsea while Sterling, Pulisic & Fofana are doubtful and are unlikely to be risked.
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ortega; Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Cancelo; Gundogan, Phillips, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Alvarez, Grealish
Chelsea possible starting lineup:
Kepa; Azpilicueta, Chalobah, Koulibaly, Hall; Jorginho, Zakaria, Gallagher; Chukwuemeka, Havertz, Aubameyang
Man City vs Chelsea Tips
Betbuilder Selections:
- Riyad Mahrez Over 1.5 shots in the match
- Over 5.5 shots in the match for Chelsea
Riyad Mahrez loves to cut in and shoot from distance. He has had at least 2 shots in 5 of his 6 premier league starts this season, failing just once in a game where he was substituted after playing 61 minutes.
He played 2 games in the League Cup averaging 3 shots per game and attempted 4 shots in the 2-0 cup win over Chelsea.
He also scored Manchester City’s winning goal in the league game against Chelsea a few days ago so will be full of confidence here so I think he can clear the “Over 1.5 shots” line in this game.
As for the 2nd selection, Chelsea are averaging 11 shots per game in the Premier League which is not huge but this is a game where City will likely take the lead at some point and Chelsea will have to go all out.
This was the case in their League Cup meeting here at the Etihad earlier this season and Chelsea managed 15 shots in that game, we only want them to get 6 here.
Combining these 2 selections gives us a solid betbuilder @ 4/5 with bet365 and I am happy to stake 1pt on that as our main bet for this game.
Conor Gallagher has been booked 3 times in his last 9 appearances for Chelsea.
He came on for the last 20 minutes against Manchester City in the league game and put in aggressive tackles along with pushing a City player to the ground but was lucky to avoid a yellow card.
With him likely playing close to 90 minutes here and with the likes of Grealish likely involved for City, I expect Gallagher to get booked at some stage.
As for Mahrez, he has scored 4 goals in his last 6 appearances for City.
He started both of City’s League Cup games against Liverpool and Chelsea and scored in both.
Combining these 2 selections gives us a cracking longshot @ 10/1 and I am happy to stake a small 0.25pt stake on that as our 2nd bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
