Man City vs. Aston Villa Predictions: Two bets for title decider at the Etihad

Live on Sky Sports, Manchester City host Aston Villa in the Premier League this Sunday at the Etihad at 4pm. Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to wrap up the Premier League title with a win as Gerrard’s Aston Villa side look to cause an upset which would be much welcomed by Liverpool.
Man City v Aston Villa Tips
City currently sit top of the league with 90 points, one point above Liverpool who play Wolves in the final game of the season. The hosts know they can not rely on Liverpool dropping any points so anything other than a win against Aston Villa could be disastrous. Going into the final day, City would have needed just one point had they beaten West Ham last weekend but a 2-2 draw makes things very interesting.
However, Guardiola will be confident of his side getting the job done considering how dominant they have been at the Etihad in recent weeks. They have scored 13 goals in their last three home games in the league, winning them all and conceding just one goal in the process.
Aston Villa on the other hand sit 14th in the league table with 45 points and will be motivated to finish higher with a positive result. They will take confidence from the fact that they have lost just one out of their last six league games, a narrow 2-1 loss against Liverpool.
This promises to be a thrilling final game of the season and one that will decide the fate of the 2021/22 premier league title.
A massive title-deciding clash awaits us and as usual, I have you covered with two of my best betting angles included in the preview below:
Team News:
Ruben Dias is out for City while John Stones & Kyle Walker are doubtful.
Leon Bailey, Kortney Hause & Ezri Konsa are out for Aston Villa.
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Sterling, Jesus, Grealish
Aston Villa possible starting lineup:
Martinez; Cash, Chambers, Mings, Digne; McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey; Coutinho; Watkins, Ings
- Over 0 goals in the 1st half for Man City
- Under 2 goals in the match for Aston Villa
- Over 1.5 shots in the match for Kevin De Bruyne
Manchester City will be Premier League champions with a win and that motivation should make them push hard from the 1st minute. They have scored seven first half goals in their last three games at the Etihad in all competitions and also scored two first half goals against Aston Villa away from home earlier this season.
City have the best defensive record in the league with just 24 goals conceded in 37 games and with the motivation of winning the league, I expect them to be concentrated and not give away many goal-scoring opportunities to the visitors.
As for De Bruyne shots, he is averaging 2.6 shots per game in the Premier League this season and has been in supreme goalscoring form for City recently scoring four goals in a single game against Wolves. He has had 10 shots in his last two league games and another two here should be comfortable considering the motivation City have.
Combining these three selections gives us a cracking bet builder @ 4/5 and I am happy to take that with a 1pt stake as our main bet for this game.
Ederson has already been shown four yellow cards this season for time wasting and considering the importance of a win, I expect him to take his time with goal kicks towards the end of the game.
At 12/1, Ederson looks a big price for another yellow card here and so I will take this with a very small 0.25pt stake as my final bet for the premier league season.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
