Malta vs. England Betting Tips: Best bets for Three Lions' EURO 2024 qualifier

England are back in action for the first time since March when they recorded back-to-back wins over Ukraine and Italy, which put them in control of Euro 2024 qualifying Group C.
The Three Lions now travel to Malta on Friday (Channel 4, 7.45pm) bidding to make it three wins on the spin.
Tipster Wizard has previewed the action and picked out his best two bets.
Malta vs England Tips
Live on Channel 4, Malta host England in the EURO 2024 Qualifiers this Friday at the National Stadium. The hosts sit bottom of the table having lost both their games so far against Italy and North Macedonia. Since beating the Faroe Islands 2-1 in 2019, Malta have gone on to lose 11 consecutive EURO qualifiers. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last 7 home games and even that came against lowly San Marino. However, they did manage to end their 3 match losing streak by beating Luxembourg 1-0 in a friendly last week so that should give them a bit of a morale boost going into this massive challenge against England.
The Three Lions on the other hand sit top of the group having won both their qualifiers so far against Italy and Ukraine. They have been on incredible run in the EURO qualifiers, winning 19 of their last 20 games and will be firm favourites to add another comfortable 3 points to their tally against 172nd ranked Malta side. These two sides have met five teams, with England winning all five meetings with an aggregate score of 14-1, so chances of an upset look slim.
As usual, I have you covered with two of my best betting angles included in the preview below.
Team News:
No injuries/suspension issues for Malta.
Jude Bellingham is out for England, but there are no other injuries/suspensions.
Malta possible starting lineup:
Bonello; Muscat, Apap, Borg; Mbong, Grech, Guillaumier, Yankam, Camenzuli; Jones, Nwoko
England possible starting lineup:
Pickford; Trippier, Guehi, Maguire, Shaw; Gallagher, Rice, Henderson; Saka, Kane, Rashford
- Malta Over 2.5 shots
- Over 0 goals in the 2nd half for England
Malta have registered at least three or more shots in their last 10 consecutive games in all competitions. In their 2 EURO qualifiers this campaign, they have registered nine shots against Italy at home and seven against North Macedonia on the road. They also managed four shots in their last meeting against England when they were beaten 4-0.
This could very well be a one-sided affair in terms of the final scoreline, but Malta should create enough chances to have three attempts on goal. All shots including blocked efforts or off target shots count for our bet.
As for the goals, Malta will struggle to cope with England’s attacking firepower despite some possible rotation by Gareth Southgate. There should be a lot of chances for the visitors, especially in the final 45 minutes as the Malta players begin to tire. Combining these two selections gives us a solid bet builder @ 4/5 and I am happy to stake 1pt on it as our main bet for this game.
- Malta Over 3.5 shots
- Over 1 goals in the 2nd half for England
Following on from our main bet builder, I am taking higher lines on both selections for our second bet. This bet also landed in their last meeting as Malta recorded four shots and England scored four 2nd half goals. At 18/5, this looks worth a small 0.25pt stake bet, so I am happy to take it as our final bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
