Malawi vs Senegal Prediction: Senegal to edge another close game in Group B

Group B concludes on Tuesday afternoon and here at BettingOdds.com we'll have match previews and tips on all the big games. Senegal have stuttered to the top of the group after a last ditch win and a draw whilst Malawi will be hoping to pick up points here and move into the top two. That spot is currently occupied by Guinea who have a relatively easy game vs rock-bottom Zimbabwe. We've asked our AFCON statto OddsTerrier to cover this fixture and he's picked out two tips for you to ponder over.
Senegal are still 5/1 favourites to win the tournament despite their slow start and they are big favourites here at only 4/11. The draw is best priced 17/5 and Malawi are as long as 25/2 longshots.
The Senegalese team are starting to get some players back available after their recent Covid outbreak but it's unsure if the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mame Thiam and Bamba Dieng will all be back in time here.
The Flames of Malawi also had their own Covid outbreak but their only doubt here is Gomezgani Chirwa, who sustained an injury late on in their 2-1 win over Zimbabwe.
Malawi vs Senegal Tips
Malawi vs Senegal Odds
First up we've looked at the unders selection in the Total Goals market. Senegal are extremely low priced here but they have been extremely poor in their opening games and are only in this position due to a hotly disputed penalty kick, that Sadio Mane converted. They created a fair number of chances versus Guinea but lacked any real quality in front of goal. Mane appears to be dropping deeper and deeper to try and get the ball but there is no one in between the posts to stick the ball away.
Malawi tend to be fairly tough to break down and given Senegal's form I don't see them scoring twice here.
With that in mind we like the look of the Lions of Teranga winning by the solitary goal. Half of all games in this tournament (12 from 24) have finished 1-0, up to and including the 16th January. I don't see Malawi scoring against a tough Senegalese set up and as mentioned before, they are hardly playing fluently themselves.
The 1-0 is available at 9/2 at SBK.
