Lyon v Bordeaux Tips: Featuring a 127/1 longshot in Ligue 1
A winner eluded us on Thursday, but I am hoping to get back on track by finding a few winners on the continent this weekend.
The first game under the microscope is Friday night's Ligue 1 clash between Lyon and Bordeaux. Our hosts will be brimming with confidence following their 5-0 demolition of rivals St Etienne in the Rhône-Alpes derby and they will be hoping they can rise back to the summit of the league with a victory at the Groupama Stadium.
At odds of around 9/20 the bookies clearly fancy them as the implied probability of a home victory is 69%. However, an in-form Bordeaux will be no mean feat, the visitors have won all three of their last games!
In his last five Ligue 1 games as a striker, Hwang Ui-jo has scored four and registered 16 shots. During that time he accounted for 32% of Bordeaux’s total shots and 35% of their shots on target as he has hit the target at least once in all five of those games, twice on three occasions and thrice on two occasions! Therefore, I think the prices available on Betfair and Paddy Power for one and two shots on target are worth a punt.
With holding midfielder Otavio absent for the foreseeable future, Yacine Adli looks set to continue at the base of Les Girondins midfield.
Adli has received three cards in nine domestic starts, averaging two tackles and 0.9 fouls per game. However, when deployed at CDM these averages rise to 3.66 tackles and 2.3 fouls per game which makes him a prime candidate for a caution.
Tomorrow, the young Frenchman will have his work cut out as he covers the likes of Paqueta, Kadewere, Depay and Ekambi.
For a bit of fun you can combine the selections above with Lucas Paqueta to be booked using Paddy Power's same game multi feature at odds of 137/1. The Brazilian midfielder has three cautions in 14 domestic appearances the campaign. You have to wonder how he has not picked up more as he tops Les Parisiens charts for tackles and fouls per game with an average of 2.4 for each.
If you are backing any of these selections good luck and please gamble responsibly.
