Lyon vs. PSG Betting Tips: Two tips for this top Ligue 1 clash on Sunday

Two of France’s most successful teams face off on Sunday night, as part of a bumper evening of European football from the continent. PSG will look to continue their unbeaten record and remain at the top of Ligue 1, whilst Lyon will be hoping to keep in touch with the top four, even at this early stage of the season.
Lyon vs PSG tips
Les Gones are coming into Sunday’s game off the back of two consecutive defeats in the league, and with Lorient winning on Friday, the gap to third place is already at six points. Jerome Boateng looks set to miss the game, with young star Rayan Cherki a possible inclusion.
Lyon’s defensive record looks worrying ahead of this clash, with one clean sheet in their last 10 league matches, coming up against a PSG side stacked with attacking talent. It’s been over four years since the home side last lost three consecutive games in Ligue 1, and facing the Parisiens isn’t giving them much hope of extending that run.
After an early scare against Maccabi Haifa, PSG’s star players pulled them out of the mire, with Lionel Messi breaking yet another Champions League record, and Kylian Mbappe continuing his astronomical rise to the top of football. Christophe Galtier’s side sit at the top of the table after seven games, with six wins and a draw so far. They’ve currently scored 25 goals domestically, at an average of 3.5 per game.
As ever, we’ve looked ahead to the fixture, and picked out two tips that have caught our eye.
Starting with our first bet, we’re looking at the visitors to win, with both teams to score. This line has landed in three of the last five meetings between these two sides, and we’re seeing the league’s outright best attack in PSG up against a Lyon side that have scored in 16 straight Ligue 1 games.
PSG’s attack needs no introduction, with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe 26 goals between them already in all competitions. Lyon have scored less, but have a nicely distributed list of goal scorers, with players from defence to attack all chipping in. This bet is best priced at the time of writing with Bet365 at 6/4.
Moving onto our next bet which follows a familiar line, we’re expecting goals, goals, goals in this fixture. Over 5.5 goals has landed in two of the last five meetings between these two teams, both of which saw PSG win 4-2. The Parisiens’ season started off with a bang, with 20 goals being scored in their first three fixtures, although it has somewhat calmed down since then, the passion behind this game should see plenty of open spaces, and chances galore.
This bet was best priced at 9/2 with Paddy Power and Betfair, but we’ve gone with Bet365 at 4/1 to make this into an 11.5/1 double.
Best of luck if you’re following any of these bets, and please gamble responsibly.
