Liverpool v Ajax Tips: Dusan the stand out selection in the shots market

After being denied three points in the Premier League by a last gasp equaliser from Brighton on Saturday, Liverpool will look to bounce back in the Champions League as they face Ajax at Anfield. The game can be seen live on BT Sport 2 at 8pm and @AnthonyEadson is on hand with three football tips for the game.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have the chance to seal their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League on Tuesday, and are the 7/10 favourites to do so with the bookmakers against Ajax. The draw is available to be backed at 7/2 with a win for the visitors priced at 4/1.
Liverpool’s injury crisis continues with Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander Arnold, Naby Keita, Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all set to miss the game. Nathaniel Phillips is not registered to play in the Champions League which could hand starts to both Rhys Williams and Neco Williams in defence.
Mohammed Kudus is Ajax’s only injury worry coming into the game. Daley Blind may take up a role in midfield which may allow Lisandro Martinez back into the heart of the defence.
Dusan Tadic 1+ shot on target - 2pts @ 6/5 Betfair, Paddy Power
Liverpool to win & BTTS - 1.5pts @ 7/4 Paddy Power
Neco Williams & Davy Klaassen to be carded - 0.25pts @ 33/1 Betfair
The first of three selections I’ve opted for on Tuesday is Ajax’s Dusan Tadic to have one or more shots on target, priced at 6/5 with both betfair and Paddy Power. The former Southampton man has scored 63 goals in 112 games since arriving in Amsterdam and has also contributed 50 assists in that time.
This season Tadic has registered at least one shot on target in 10 of the 14 games he has featured in. Two or more shots on target has also landed in four of those 14 and with Tadic already having two goals to his name in this season’s group stage I’m fancying him to work Liverpool’s keeper on Tuesday. Sky Bet have this selection at 1/2 which gives plenty of appeal to the 6/5 on show from both betfair and Paddy Power.
Next up I’m backing Liverpool to win the game and both teams to score in the match, available at 7/4 with most firms. My main angle here into the Reds winning the game is that I feel Liverpool will set up a lot stronger than they did against Brighton where they had Minamino and Milner in midfield. On Tuesday i think we should see Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum in the centre which gives a lot more solidity.
Liverpool’s loss to Atalanta ended a run of eight consecutive games without defeat in the Champions League group stages and I think they can get the three points on Tuesday evening. Although with a weakened defence there’s plenty of reason to believe Ajax can score. The Dutch side haven’t lost any of their last five away games to English sides in this tournament and come into the game off the back of a six game winning streak. This selection has landed in four of their six games at Anfield this season across the Premier League and Champions League.
Finally, I’ve picked out something at a bit of a price and have opted for both Neco williams of Liverpool and Davy Klaassen of Ajax to be carded, at 33/1 with betfair. Referee Tobias Stieler takes charge of this one, and the German has produced an average of 3.66 yellows per game over his last six appearances.
Neco Williams who conceded a penalty against Brighton at the weekend, should continue at right-back for this match and the young Welshman was in fact booked twice in seven starts for Klopp’s side across the Premier League and FA Cup last season. The highest percentage of Ajax’s attacks this season have come down the left of the pitch and I’m fancying this to be a key area on Tuesday.
Davy Klaassen is a player well known on Merseyside after his short stint at Goodison Park with Everton. The 27-year-old was cautioned on seven occasions for Werder Bremen in the league last season. He’s already picked up booking in this season’s Champions League campaign and can round off this 33/1 double with a card against Liverpool.
Best of luck to those following any of the selections, enjoy the game and please always gamble responsibly
