Liverpool vs. Leeds Betting Tips: Darwin Nunez tipped in Saturday night clash

Liverpool were shocked by Nottingham Forest in their last game as Jurgen Klopp’s men were beaten 1-0 by the team that sit rock bottom of the Premier League table. Liverpool dominated the ball but were carved open on the break by Steve Cooper’s side.
This week, Liverpool welcome Leeds. Jesse Marsch’s side have struggled in recent weeks and look set to be embroiled in a relegation battle on current form. Leeds have dropped into the bottom three and are without a win in eight league matches, meaning confidence will be low as they head to Anfield.
Liverpool vs Leeds Tips
Liverpool recovered from last weekend’s shock defeat by beating Ajax in the Champions League. Klopp is still looking to strike the right balance with his side after an inconsistent start but they should cause Leeds a whole host of problems on Saturday night.
Darwin Nunez is showing signs that he is going to be a huge goal threat for the rest of the season. The forward would love to get his name on the scoresheet here, and his presence should be an issue for a wobbling Leeds’ defence.
Liverpool have been winning a lot of throws this season and had 30 against Nottingham Forest in their last game. Klopp’s men have been averaging over 26 throws per game this season, and they should have a fair few here.
Leeds will have to make it difficult for the home side here. If they allow Liverpool to settle it could get ugly. This should help our cause for Liverpool throws as Leeds press from the off. Marsch’s men force an average of 22 throws from their opponents per game this season. Liverpool have never had fewer than 20 throws against Leeds since they returned to the Premier League.
I’m also going to back Leeds’ goal kicks. Liverpool’s opponents at Anfield are averaging 11 goal kicks per game this season. Barring a very early goal for the home side, I expect Leeds to have enough goal kicks for this bet to win comfortably.
On their two visits to Anfield in recent years, Leeds have had 10 and 12 goal kicks. Leeds themselves are averaging 8.8 goal kicks per away game this season, but Liverpool have the quality to force more. Leeds are yet to play any of the ‘big 6’ away from home.
For the longer odds bet, I’m going to take the goal kicks angle from the main bet but increase the line. Liverpool have forced 14 goal kicks or more from their opponents in three of their nine home matches in all competitions. There is potential for them to do that again here with the confidence gained from midweek.
I’m also backing Darwin Nunez to score. The striker has faced criticism in the early part of his Liverpool career. The comparisons with Erling Haaland haven’t helped, but the forward is very capable of leading the line. Nunez has scored in his last two games for Liverpool, and has impressed with his movement to stretch an opponent.
The double is priced at 10.00 on Bet 365.
