Leeds United v Southampton Tips: Back Ward-Prowse to test Meslier from distance

There’s just one Premier League fixture taking place on Tuesday evening which sees Southampton travel to Leeds. Just two points separate these teams going into the game and with the visitors winless in their last seven Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be looking to climb back into the top half of the table with a victory.
Southampton will have been disappointed not to take all three points from Chelsea at the weekend after Danny Ings gave a penalty away in a 1-1 stalemate on the South Coast. Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men are priced at 9/4 to take all three points at Elland Road. The draw is available at 5/2 with a home win being offered at 5/4 with most firms. We’ve got four football tips for the game that kicks off at 6pm live on Sky Sports.
Jack Harrison 1+ shot on target - 2.5pts @ 6/4
James Ward Prowse 1+ shot on target from outside the box - 1pt @ 10/3 Paddy Power
Jack Harrison to be carded - 0.5pts @ 21/2 BetVictor
Jack Harrison 1+ shot on target & to be carded - 0.2pts @ 34/1 Paddy Power
Leeds United’s Jack Harrison features in two of my selections on Tuesday, with the first being for the 24-year-old to have a shot on target, which is priced at 6/4 with both Betfair and Paddy Power. It’s been a productive season for Harrison who has six goals and four assists to his name in the Premier League this campaign.
Three of his goals have come in his last six games and he’s a young man who has shown some really good form since the turn of the year. When it comes to shots on target, Harrison is averaging 0.52 shots on target per game, but has registered at least one shot on target in five of his last six matches. Half of Harrison’s shots on target this season have come since January 26 and at 7/5 he looks slightly overpriced in my opinion with other firms such as Coral going odds-on for the same selection.
Since August 2018, only James Maddison has scored more goals from outside the box than Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse. At 10/3, again with Betfair and Paddy Power, I’m leaning towards the Saints midfielder to have a shot on target from outside the box against Leeds.
When it comes to free-kick taking in the Premier League there are not many better than James Ward-Prowse. The 26-year-old has registered a shot on target from outside the box in three of his last six league games with this selection landing in seven of his 24 appearances (29%). With odds of 10/3 only implying a 23% of success I’m happy to have this selection onside at the boosted price with either Betfair or Paddy Power.
At 10/1 with bet365 and 21/2 with BetVictor I feel Leeds United’s Jack Harrison is a little overpriced to pick up a booking on Tuesday. The left-sided midfielder has been cautioned twice in the Premier League this term and has committed six fouls in his last six games. Harrison’s direct opponent on Thursday should be Moussa Djenpo who has been fouled 1.5 times per game on average this season, with only Theo Walcott bettering that figure for Saints.
With Paddy Power’s Bet Builder it is possible to combine players to have a shot on target and to be carded so I’ve also recommended the 34/1 that is currently available for Jack Harrison to be carded and to have a shot on target in the game. The game can be seen live on Sky Sports Premier League at 6pm. As always, please remember to gamble responsibly.
