Leeds vs. Cardiff Betting Tips: Cards on the menu at Elland Road in FA Cup Replay
Leeds and Cardiff face off at Elland Road in an FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday evening. We’ve got our in-house punting aficionado Anthony Eadson on hand to provide us with his best bets for the game.
Leeds left it late to come back from two goals down to equalise in the 93rd minute against Cardiff when the two sides met ten days ago. A fourth-round tie against Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley awaits this game's winners, which will go to extra time and penalties if the sides cannot be split after 90 minutes.
In the last five renewals of the FA Cup Leeds have been eliminated in the third round, and although a cup run would be nice for the West Yorkshire faithful, Premier League survival is the main objective with the side currently sitting 14th in the league standings, just two points above the drop zone.
Cardiff’s form has also been poor of late and they are yet to win in seven games across all competitions since returning from the World Cup break. That elusive win almost came last weekend, but a 97th minute leveler from Will Keane of Wigan Athletic put an end to Mark Hudson’s reign in charge of the Bluebirds.

Leeds United vs Cardiff City Tips
Between 1984 and 2015 Leeds failed to beat Cardiff in 17 matches and since then there have been some of the most hostile atmospheres at both Ninian Park and Elland Road when the pair have clashed.
A fixture with a real bit of bite, I am predicting cards on Wednesday and backing both Leeds and Cardiff to collect Over 1.5 which can be backed at 11/4 with BetUK or Unibet using their Bet Builder feature,
When Leeds travelled to Wales two weekends ago, seven yellows and one red card were shown and looking at the last time the pair met in the league (2020) six yellows were brandished. Betfair and Paddy Power have just 17/10 on show here for this same bet of each side receiving Over 1.5 cards so I’d recommend taking the 11/4 with BetUK.
I’ve also had a little bit of loose change on two players being carded in the form of Ryan Wintle of Cardiff and Wilfried Gnonto of Leeds.
No player has been shown more cards for Cardiff this season than Wintle who has six cautions to his name in 26 league appearances, and was also booked against Leeds when coming off the bench in a 12 minute cameo ten days ago.
Pairing Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto with Ryan Wintle takes us up to a very backable 22/1 with Betfair or Paddy Power. A player who has been leaving everything out there on the pitch for his side in recent weeks, Gnonto’s enthusiasm can sometimes lead him into trouble. The 19-year-old has been shown a yellow in three of his last five appearances and the raucous atmosphere at Elland Road on Wednesday could well lead to another.
