Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury 2 Odds: Fury favourite for a potential rematch
Many of us around the world tuned into the Misfits Prime card over the weekend and whilst the two main events were rather, ‘interesting’, the hype behind influencer boxing is still on the rise and you best believe this won't be the end of it.
Tommy Fury has claimed he’s done with the scene but at the end of the day, money talks and it’d be no surprise to see him face someone like Jake Paul yet again. Well luckily for us we can see what the bookmakers think of a potential rematch for Jake Paul and Tommy Fury as early odds have been released for a potential bout between the two.
It’s fair to say Tommy Fury did not impress the boxing world over the weekend after securing a narrow points victory against Youtuber turned boxer KSI. The result has been controversial if you are to look at what people on social media are saying. People are convinced of a KSI win, personally, I had Tommy Fury winning it but it’s hard to judge a fight where so few punches are thrown and there’s a clinch every 10 seconds.
Tommy was the 1/3 favourite to beat KSI and even reached as high as 10/3 in play to win this bout. A sloppy performance from both fighters left a lot of spectators frustrated but nevertheless, Tommy Fury has now beaten everyone in the influencer space that has challenged him.
But what about a rematch with Jake Paul? Well if the money is anything similar to this fight against KSI, it’ll be hard for the Brit to turn down an offer to rematch Paul. I’m sure Jake Paul would love to rematch Tommy given his disappointing loss against him and if Jake can win the rematch, it blows the influencer boxing scene wide open once again.
In terms of what the bookmakers think, Tommy Fury remains a favourite for a potential rematch between the two at 4/7 with Jake Paul as a 5/4 underdog. Tommy Fury schooled Jake Paul in their fight so it's fair to see him as the favourite, but if he performs anything like he did against KSI, this one could be a lot more even.
Since the Fury fight Jake Paul has gone on to fight Nate Diaz, a fight that he was massively favoured to win and he did so very convincingly. For Jake Paul, a second fight against Tommy Fury presents an opportunity to avenge his previous loss and validate his career as a genuine boxer. A good performance in the rematch could put some new life into his boxing career and while he may not be short of followers, the interest in these influencer fights are sure to die down a bit after this last card.
With that said though, there is still very much interest in these fights and a rematch between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury would certainly still do numbers. A lot of this is financially motivated and these two are big enough names now that they can bring in PPV buys and a big crowd.
So where's the value on this potential fight? Well the odds market is limited at the moment with no announcement of the fight so we're only left with the win-draw-win market. That being said, it'd be crazy to not be siding with Tommy Fury. He may not have put on a decent display against KSI but he's still not looked in danger once in his fights. Jake Paul has had some sketchy moments in the ring and against Tommy Fury he really didn't show anything to prove he was on that level.
Of course, this fight might not even happen but it's interesting to see where the boxing scene will go for this group and if there was ever a fight to make, this would probably be it.
