Inter Milan vs. Barcelona Betting Tips: Best bets including a 9/1 Bet Builder as Xavi's men travel to the San Siro
Inter Milan welcome Barcelona to the San Siro in a mouthwatering Champions League group game on Tuesday evening as two of Europe’s heavyweights face off. We’ve scoured the betting markets ahead of the match and provided you with two selections we like the look of, as well as a preview of the game.
Both Inter Milan and Barcelona find themselves on three points after two rounds of matches in Group C. With both having tasted defeat to group leaders Bayern Munich already, who have back-to-back fixtures against Viktoria Plzen in Matchday 3 & 4, it’s looking very likely that these two will be fighting it out for second place.
The Italian side find themselves ninth in their domestic table after eight matches this season, with the Nerazzurri having lost four of their last six in Serie A. After being 1-0 up against Roma last weekend, Inter once again threw away a lead to go on to lose 2-1 to Jose Mourinho’s men. Pressure is beginning to build on Simone Inzaghi, who’s been unfortunate with injuries to some of his key players in the early stages of this campaign.
Barcelona on the other hand are on a run of six straight victories in La Liga and find themselves top of the table, level on points with Real Madrid with a superior goal difference. After the embarrassment of not making it out of the Group Stages last season, Barca will be desperate not to let that happen again this time round in a competition they have not won since 2015.
Marcelo Brozovic will once again miss out for the hosts due to an injury sustained when playing for Croatia during the international break. Romelu Lukaku is another big miss for Inzaghi’s side as he continues on the road to recovery from his thigh injury.
Joules Kounde, Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong will all miss the trip to Milan after injuries sustained in the Nations League break. Ronald Araujo and Hector Bellerin are also absentees, while Pedri and Raphinha are expected to come back into the side after being given a rest in the 1-0 win over Mallorca last weekend.
Inter Milan vs Barcelona Tips
Robert Lewandowski has made a scintillating start to life at Barcelona and we are backing him to find the net as well as recording Over 1.5 shots on target on Tuesday evening. This selection is available at 11/8 with bet365 and looking at his record this season, the former Bayern Munich man has scored 12 goals in just 10 appearances for his new employers.
That includes a Champions League hat-trick in Matchday 1 against Viktoria Plzen in the 5-1 thumping dished out by his side, as well as nine in just eight La Liga appearances to make him comfortably the division's top scorer at this early stage. What’s noticeable when looking at Lewandowski’s stats this term is that he has recorded at least 2 shots on target in all of the matches he has scored in. Other firms have the Polish International as short as 8/13 to find the net in the San Siro, and we think this looks a nice way in, at a very attractive 11/8.
For those looking for something at a bit more of a price, we are touting Inter’s Hakan Calhanoglu to be carded in the match as well as having 2+ shots, at 9/1 with either Betfair or Paddy Power.
No player was shown more yellow cards in Serie A last season for Inter than the Turkish International with 11 bookings in just 34 appearances. Calhanoglu averaged over a foul a game last season and we are surprised to see 7/2 on show with Paddy Power for him to be carded against Barca in what could be a tough evening for the hosts, who are priced at 10/3 to take the three points on home soil.
Combining Calhanoglu to be carded with him to have 2+ shots in the match takes us up to just under 9/1. In Serie A last season, the midfielder bagged himself seven goals in his 33 starts, however looking at his shot data, he cleared the 2+ line in an impressive 22 matches. He’s a free-kick taker for the club and isn’t afraid of letting fly from distance and with this same double paying under 5/1 with bet365, we feel this is a backable price with Paddys.
