Hull vs. Bristol City Betting Tips: Scott Twine a big price in the shots market
Bristol City travel to Humberside to take on Hull in the championship on Friday evening and we’ve got Anthony Eadson on hand to preview the action and provide us with his best bets.
After three rounds of fixtures in the second-tier Hull find themselves seventh in the table with six points. Liam Rosenior’s side were beaten on the opening weekend of the campaign due to a 97th minute goal from Adam Idah at Carrow Road. Since then they have managed wins against Sheffield Wednesday and most recently Blackburn Rovers. Hull had an advantage for most of the game at Ewood Park due to a Rovers red card after 16 minutes, but a brace from Aaron Connolly in the final ten minutes of the match secured all three points.
Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City have only scored twice so far this season but still have four points on the board. The Robins will have been satisfied with a point against Preston in Gameweek 1 but delighted with the 1-0 away win that followed at Millwall, however the worrying manner of the home defeat to Birmingham will raise some questions after they failed to register a shot on target in the match.
Most betting sites have priced up the hosts as the 13/10 favourites to collect three points on Friday. The draw is on show at 23/10, while an away win for Bristol City is available at 21/10.
Hull vs Bristol City Tips
Only Southampton and Norwich have scored more goals than Hull so far this season with seven and they can get on the front foot with their attack that consists of Scott Twine, Ozan Tufan, Liam Delap and Aaron Connolly.
I fancy Hull to get the win here, but I’ve opted to side with two selections featuring Scott Twine. The first of those can be backed with bet365, where I’m taking the 5/4 for him to register Over 2.5 shots.
It was an injury riddled season for Twine at Burnley and I think this term we will see more of the player that we saw at MK Dons where he was outstanding. Against Blackburn last weekend Twine let off five shots with one hitting the target.
Looking back at his shot totals in his last six starts for Burnley in 2022/23 and they read 5,2,6,2,1,6.
5/4 may not seem like the most glamorous of prices but I expect him to be pulling the trigger on every opportunity after his solid showing last week.
I’ll also be having a couple of quid on Twine to score from outside the box, which is chalked-up at 13/2 with bet365. Against Blackburn, Twine had three shots from range and will be on free-kick duty for The Tigers against Nigel Pearson’s men.
In his final season with MK Dons Twine scored a whopping nine goals from outside the area and despite making only 14 league appearances for Burnley last term, he still managed two goals from distance. I think we’ll see closer to those numbers from his campaign in League One this time round and I don’t think it will be long before he fires one in from outside the box.
