Huddersfield Town vs. Nottingham Forest Betting Tips: 124/1 stats based Bet Builder for Sunday's huge game

This is the one people! Forget your major European finals - this is the game that has the most riding on it. The Championship Play-off final or the 'richest game in football', so-called due to the huge financial incentives on offer for the winner, is taking place at Wembley on Sunday 29th May and will feature Huddersfield Town who finished in 3rd place in the Championship and Nottingham Forest who finished just one place below them in the league.
We've asked our resident Terrier Adam Roberts, who will likely be on his way to Wembley by the time you read this, to take a look into the stats from this season, the head-to-heads between the two sides and pick us out a featured bet-builder for this massive occasion. It pays a little over 124/1 at the time of writing with Paddy Power...
Huddersfield Town vs. Nottingham Forest Tips
These two sides have played each other 54 times in the league with Huddersfield taking the overall bragging rights, winning 24 times, losing 17 times and there have been 13 draws.
The first meeting took place way back in 1911 in the old Second Division - Nottingham Forest winning 2-1 away from home. The last meeting took place in the FA Cup 5th round when Forest again won 2-1 thanks to goals from Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates. The 2-1 scoreline is a 17/2 shot on Sunday.
Here are the full results between the two clubs over the last three years; Huddersfield again have the advantage here, winning four and losing three.

We move into the cards markets and surprisingly it's Huddersfield who are shorter in the bookings markets than Nottingham Forest. I say surprisingly as Forest have a far worse disciplinary record this season, picking up 90 yellow cards and three reds. Compare that to Town, who have accumulated just 74 yellows and no sending offs.
Championship playoff finals produce a decent amount of cards - in the last five contests there have been 29 yellow cards and two red cards, an average of 6.2 cards per game. The retiring Premier League official Jon Moss has been allocated as the referee for this momentous occasion and he averages just 2.32 yellows pg which is on the low side for the top division. This may well change in this pressure cooker atmosphere however.
Looking at the individual player odds and Jack Colback and Duane Holmes are the two shortest priced to be carded which isn't surprising given their disciplinary records. Also interesting is how short the two keepers are to pick up a booking. Both Lee Nicholls and Brice Samba have picked up multiple cautions this year for time wasting, and I wouldn't put you off backing whichever side you fancy to win and their keeper to be carded as a double as they will be playing for time in the last 10 minutes if their side is leading.
The two men that stand out to me in this market are Joe Worrall of Nottingham Forest and Sorba Thomas of Huddersfield Town.
Both men have picked up 10 cautions for the season and Worrall picked up a yellow card in both play-off semi finals. Worrall will likely face up against Thomas here who is a spiky character and one of the hardest players to defend against in the Championship. He is quick, full of tricks and isn't shy of a late challenge himself. I wouldn't be surprised to see either man booked, possibly at the same time.

Lastly we move into the shots and goals markets and I would be loathe to go for either of the Town strikers Danny Ward or Jordan Rhodes until the teams are announced, as it's not certain which one will start. One man who is sure to start is Forest talisman Brennan Johnson.
The 21-year-old son of former Forest striker David Johnson has been a revelation this season, netting 18 times on the way to Wembley. He leads both teams for goals, shots and shots on target and he manager five shots on target in the semi finals. He is 13/5 to have 2+ shots on target in the 90 minutes at Paddy Power and I think that's a bet that could definitely happen. He has cleared this line on nine occasions already this season.
My last pick is for Danel Sinani of Huddersfield to have a shot on target. The 25-year-old Luxembourg international is on loan from Norwich City and while he has been frustrating to watch at times this season, there is no doubting his obvious quality. Sinani ranks second for goals and third for shots and shots on target for the Terrriers this season . He has hit this line in his last three games including the two play-off semis, so is a man in form.
Combining the four picks at Paddy Power pays a colossal 124/1 while it's as short as 45/1 at bet365. You can load the betslip directly using the link below.
