Huddersfield vs Stoke Prediction: Corners and cards bets for Friday night football

Friday night is Championship night and we've enlisted @scottythorn21 to preview Friday night's Huddersfield v Stoke odds with two predictions...
Huddersfield come in to this Friday night game occupying 6th place and the final playoff spot in the Championship table, and Stoke sit just 6 points behind them in the table having played a game less than Huddersfield. The home side will be keen to pick up the victory here and ensure they give themselves some breathing space and stay the chasing pack, which includes Friday’s opponents Stoke.
Huddersfield v Stoke Tips
Huddersfield are in fine form and are unbeaten in their last 9 matches in all competitions. This run has got their fans hopeful of a strong end to the season and maybe even promotion to the Premier League.
Stoke on the other hand have just 1 win in their last 6 league matches, and that came against Hull who currently find themselves in 19th place. This torrid run of form that includes 4 defeats and 1 draw has seen Stoke drop significantly in the table, but they’ll view this as the perfect opportunity to get their season back on track. A win on Friday would put them right on the tails of Huddersfield and the coveted playoff places.
Colwell remains a doubt for Huddersfield, but they should be able to name an unchanged team from the one that narrowly beat Reading in their last outing. Nick Powell, Joe Allen and Tyrese Campbell could return for Stoke after injury and provide them with a much needed boost.
Huddersfield v Stoke Odds
Stoke matches are averaging 10.85 corners per game overall, this is the most of any team’s matches in the Championship. While Huddersfield’s numbers are slightly more modest, with their games averaging 8.65, they did manage to win 5 corners in the reverse fixture with Stoke earlier in the season.
Huddersfield have won 4 corners or more in 8 of their last 10 matches at home and that sees them average 4.6 corners per game over that period and there has been no stand out games to drive that average up, with the most corners Huddersfield have managed over those home games being 6. The visitors in those games have won 4 corners in 5 of the 10 games, but Stoke have won 4 corners in all of their last 10 away games, with an average of 5.8 per game. In fact, both teams have taken 4 corners or more in 7 of Stoke’s last 10 matches.
I’m reusing the corners in our main angle for the longer odds bet, and I’ll happily take a cards angle given the intensity of the meeting earlier this season. That game saw 5 cards overall, and the referee here is averaging 3.4 yellow cards per game this season.
Both of these teams have scored in the last 4 meetings, and both teams have scored in 8 of Huddersfield’s last 10 matches. Stoke’s recent matches have been more modest and both teams to score has landed in just 3 of their last 10, but I’m happy to take this longshot on given the recent head-to-head’s between these teams (the last 5 average 4 goals per game).
