Genoa vs. Roma Betting Tips: Back Lukaku to make it four in four

Genoa take on Roma live on TNT Sports on Thursday evening in Serie A with the game kicking off at 19:45. We’ve scoured the betting markets and have picked out two selections that we think are worth backing at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa side have collected four points so far in their five matches since the start of the new season. Their only win came on the road at Lazio, although two weeks ago they held a two goal lead over Napoli, only to concede two late goals in a 2-2 stalemate. Since then they have lost to Leece who are flying high in fourth, but are not fancied to get the three points on Thursday, priced at 3/1 to do so.
Roma have also had a far from ideal start to the 2023/24 campaign after failing to win on four of their first five league outings. Jose Mourinho’s side thrashed Empoli 7-0 in Gameweek 4, but could not see off Torino in a 1-1 draw last Sunday. Roma have a strong record over the last decade against Genoa and can be backed at 21/10 to collect three points in this clash.
Genoa vs Roma Tips
The first selection we are getting behind in this Serie A clash is for Romelu Lukaku to score anytime in the match, which is priced at 21/10 with several betting sites, including William Hill. Those odds imply a 32% chance of the Belgian finding the net, with other bookmakers such as Unibet going much shorter at 6/4.
It’s been a strong start to life under Jose Mourinho at Roma for the Chelsea loanee with a goal in each of his three starts for the club. After a turbulent few years, some time with his former manager in a side where he is very much loved, could well be the tonic that is needed to rediscover some of his best form. Lukaku has let off seven shots across his two Serie A starts so far this term and looks a reasonable price to score against Genoa who sit 16th in the table.
Roma’s record against Genoa in recent years is pretty impeccable, with no defeats in their last 17 meetings. You have to go all the way back to 2014 for the last time that Genoa got the better of them and this fixture looks like just what Roma need to kick-start their season and get some much needed points on the board.
Only Roger Ibanez was carded more times for Roma in Serie A last season than Bryan Cristante. The midfielder was shown eight yellows and one red in the 2022/23 campaign, but is yet to be booked in five appearances this season and with card-happy referee Daniele Orsato taking the whistle for this one, he looks a nice prospect to be carded. 66% of Cristante’s cards came in away matches last season and combining him to do get his first of the campaign with a Roma win pays 13/2 with bet365.
