Gambia vs Cameroon Prediction: Aboubakar to fire the hosts into the semis

The Africa Cup of Nations has reached the Quarter-Final stages and we will have previews and tips for every game moving forward. We have asked our man OddsTerrier to cover the afternoon kick off on Saturday, which features Gambia and tournament hosts Cameroon. He has analysed the formbook and has two picks for you.
We're into the quarters and first up we've got a big one. Tournament hosts and favourites Cameroon are up against over-achievers Gambia, who started the tournament as 100/1 outsiders, yet now find themselves in the Quarter-Finals. This match will likely be overshadowed by the tragic events surrounding Cameroon's previous fixture where several people were killed in a crush before the game. The Indomitable Lions will no doubt be hoping to lift the trophy on home soil as a tribute to those who lost their lives in Yaounde.
The betting in this tie looks pretty clear cut but as the round of 16 showed us, that isn't always a great indicator of what will follow. Cameroon are best priced 4/7 , the draw is available at 11/4 and Gambia are all the way out at 37/5.
Gambia vs Cameroon Tips
First up and I'm going a bit against the grain. Yes, I fancy Cameroon to win this one but I don't expect them to have it all their own way. They have won three of their four games at AFCON 2021 but have yet to keep a clean sheet. Even against 10-man Comoros in the least 16, they couldn't keep a clean sheet and conceded late.
Gambia have impressed me thus far and have scored in every one of their four games. In Musa Barrow and Ablie Jallow, they possess genuine firepower and will have chances versus the hosts.
I'm taking the 9/2 on offer for Cameroon to win and both teams to score.
My second selection is, of course, based around our old friend Vincent Aboubakar. I have backed the 29-year-old every step of the way through AFCON2021 and I'm not about to stop now. Aboubakar currently plays his football for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia and is in stunning form, scoring six goals in his first four games at the tournament. Aboubakar is Cameroon's second highest ever scorer (31 national goals) after Samuel Eto'o (50) and will be hopeful of a bagful here to close in on that total. A threat from open play and the penalty spot, Aboubakar is the fulcrum to any attack for the Cameroon outfit and should get chances galore here.
Aboubakar was 10/3 to score twice in the last match versus Comoros. He's 9/1 to do that here and I like the sound of those odds.
As always, please remember to gamble responsibly if you follow any of my selections.
