Fulham vs. Luton Town Predictions: The Hatters can get a result at Craven Cottage
Promoted Fulham can get their hands on the Championship trophy tonight when they host a Luton side looking to cement their place in the play-offs. The teams lock horns at Craven Cottage at 5.15pm, in what promises to be a cracking clash...
Fulham vs. Luton Town Tips
Fulham booked their place back in the Premier League two weeks ago but are still waiting to be crowned champions. With two games remaining they are five points ahead of Bournemouth in second spot.
Given their immense goal difference, Fulham just need to avoid defeat at home tonight in order to effectively win the title, although Marco Silva will be eager for his side to lift the trophy with a win in front of their own fans.
They’ll need to be on top form to beat Luton, who have been one of the surprise stories of the season. Nathan Jones has done an incredible job at the helm as the Hatters chase a first-ever promotion to the Premier League.
A win at Craven Cottage will ensure that Luton, in 5th and two points above 7th-placed Middlesbrough, will secure a play-off spot.
Fulham are the odds-on favourites for the win, but given their wobbles of late Luton could well attract attention at 5/1 to claim the spoils. A draw is available at 16/5.
We like the look of a draw in this one at 16/5 with BetVictor.
Fulham know that a win will claim the title yet they haven’t been their dominant selves in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five matches. Within that jittery run they’ve suffered defeats to Coventry, Derby, and Nottingham Forest, two of which were on home soil.
Luton have momentum on their side as they head over to Craven Cottage with seven points on the board from their last three games, which includes a fantastic win over Nottingham Forest. They’ve lost just once in eight matches, have the fifth best away record in the Championship, and held Fulham to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
With so much at stake Luton will be fighting tooth and nail to come away with a result. I do like the look of them at 5/1 to grab their tenth away win of the season, but this is Fulham away we’re talking about. The visitors know that a prized point means they will at least keep their hopes of a top-six finish in their own hands heading into a final day fixture at home to Reading.
For our second tip we have a double which requires Aleksandar Mitrovic to score and be carded, at a best-priced 7.23/1 with Betfair.
Mitrovic’s record-breaking goalscoring exploits this season have been plain silly. He’s been absolutely rampant, bagging 41 goals in 42 games, including six in his last seven appearances. He’s notched two or more goals on 11 different occasions, has three hat-tricks on the board, and needs just one more goal to match Guy Whittingham’s second tier record of 42 goals in a single season; set back in 1992/93.
Even though the Championship Player of the Season is unsurprisingly odds-on at 5/6 to score - as he did in the previous game against Luton - he’s always worth considering in the anytime market. With Fulham currently on 99 goals, you can bet that he would love nothing more than to score the goal that rockets his side to the century landmark.
Mitrovic has also been a frequent offender when it comes to bookings; he’s received nine yellows so far this season, more than any of his teammates. He’s had two yellows in his last two games, with four of his last six yellows coming on home soil, and is available at 7/2 to have his name jotted in the black book once again on Monday.
Mitrovic to both score and be carded is a bet that has landed in five games this season and we like the look of this 7.23/1 shot to return tonight.
