France vs. Denmark Predictions: Best bets for Friday's game in Paris
Six Nations League matches take place on Friday evening with reigning Champions France taking on Denmark at the Stade de France. We’ve previewed the game and have provided you with two tips that have caught our eye.
France defeated Spain 2-1 in last Autumn’s UEFA Nations League final and they are priced as favourites to lift the trophy this time around at 7/2 with most bookmakers. Didier Deschamps’ side were knocked out of last summer’s European Championships on penalties by Switzerland in the Round of 16, however, since then Les Blues have gone nine games unbeaten on a run which includes victories over Belgium and Spain.
Denmark have only won one of their last eight meetings with France and arrive here off the back of two defeats in their last three international matches. Simon Kjaer will miss this game for the Danes through injury, with Jannik Vestergaard expected to line up alongside Andreas Christensen at the heart of their defence.
It’s predicted that France will line-up with a back-three for the visit of Denmark, with the trio of Varane, Kimpembe, and Hernandez in defence. Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with a move away from Monaco this summer and is expected to start the game in midfield alongside N’golo Kante.
The hosts are priced at 4/6 to kick off their Nations League campaign with a win, whilst the draw is being offered at 3/1. Dennis Rommedahl and Jon-Dahl Tomasson were on the scoresheet the last time Denmark defeated France and they can be backed at a best price of 9/2 to claim the three points here.
France vs Denmark Tips
Both of our tips for Friday evening’s match centre around a certain French superstar in Kylian Mbappe. Football is heading in a strange direction after it was announced that Kylian Mbappe’s new contract would make him the most powerful figure at Paris Saint-Germain, but back to matters on the pitch and we are backing him to provide an assist anytime in this match with Denmark, which can be backed at 3/1 with Unibet.
In previous seasons we’ve seen Mbappe being completely obsessed with goals and looking to find the net at every single given opportunity. This campaign, however, we have seen a certain amount of maturity in the now 23-year-old’s game as he has become a much more dynamic forward.
A good example of this is to just look at the number of assists that he has provided for PSG in Ligue 1 this term. In the 2020/2021 league season Mbappe registered seven assists, but this time round he more than doubled that figure with 17 league assists. Those 17 came in just 34 appearances, with a further four assists coming across 8 appearances in the Champions League.
At International level, Mbappe has provided an assist in each of his five matches. Those came against Belgium, Spain, Kazakhstan, Finland, and South Africa and at 3/1 with Unibet, we think there’s plenty of reason we are getting a nice bit of value on a player who has 27 assists for club and country since the start of August.
The other selection we have taken a lean towards in this match is for Kylian Mbappe to score and assist. Betfair and Paddy Power go 5/1 about this double via their Bet Builder feature so we’d certainly be recommending Unibet here with a much more backable 7/1 on show.
In the French top-flight this season, Mbappe finished with more goals (28) and more assists than any other player (17). He has nine goals in his last five appearances for his country and has also scored and assisted in each of those. With Denmark being beaten 2-0 by Scotland at the back end of last year and conceding four in a 4-2 defeat to the Netherlands in March, we feel there is scope for the hosts to rack up the goals here, and with 7/1 on show for Mbappe to score and assist we think this looks a wise play.
