France vs. Denmark Betting Tips: Back Kylian Mbappe to light up the World Cup

France face Denmark on Saturday in a World Cup clash that could decide who tops Group D. Our man @JimmyThePunt is on hand with two tips for the game including a 50/1 longshot.
Les Bleus World Cup defence made a rocky start when Australia took an early lead on Tuesday as Craig Goodwin slotted home a Mathew Leckie cross.
In my preview for that game, I highlighted how each of the last three holders had failed to make it out of the group stage in the last three World Cup finals. Didier Deschamps' side looked like they would fall foul to that trend with them trailing to the Socceroos inside nine minutes.
The French eventually went through the gears though, goals from Adrien Rabiot, Kylian Mbappe and a brace from Oliver Giroud ensuring they ultimately cruised to victory.
Giroud's brace meant he has now equalled Thierry Henry’s tally of 51 goals and joins him as their nations all time leading scorer. However, it was Mbappe's mercurial performance that grabbed the headlines registering an assist alongside his goal which was enough to see him grab man of the match.
Lucas Hernandez’s injury in the build up to the opening goal meant he was replaced by brother Theo and this could be Deschamps only change for the cash against the Danes.
Not so dark horses going into the tournament, Denmark, made a meek start failing to break the deadlock against Tunisia.
Their blunt performance was more a consequence of the North Africans fierce defending, though, there is no disputing that if Kasper Hjulmand's side are going to stand any chance of escaping the group, they must up the ante.
The only change for the Danes could be an enforced one, with Thomas Delaney appearing to pull up with a muscle injury he is a huge doubt here meaning Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard could slot into midfield.
France vs Denmark Tips
If it is not broken, don’t fix it.
Those who read the preview for Les Bleus opener with Australia will think this bet looks familiar. I thought Kylian Mbappe’s price to find the net at 5/6 was irresistible and with him duly obliging, I think he is worth doubling down on here.
The sheer level of his performance against the Socceroos had fans and pundits lauding him with Gary Liniker questioning if there is anyone on earth currently on his level? Personally, I would say the Brazilian attacker he plays alongside is. However, there is no doubt in my, if he can match the performance levels he hit against Aus, he’ll be amongst the goals here.
No player on the pitch had more shots (7), attempted more dribbles (9) or had a direct hand in more goals then (2) Mbappe.
It is a rinse and repeat again.
For his nation, Mbappe has averaged 0.59 goals per 90. He bagged four once in a World Cup Qualifier against Kazakhstan in November, 2021 and has hit the double on three occasions, v South Africa, Russia and in the World Cup QF victory over Argentina.
For club and country, he has taken home the match ball 13 times in 197 appearances (6.5%) and based on that averaged anything north of 20/1 would represent value here.
Obviously, Denmark’s quality must be taken into account, however, so must the level of Mbappe’s performance on Tuesday.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly.
