Since losing their final Champions League group stage fixture to last place Celtic and being dumped out of the premier European competition, Feyenoord have put together seven wins from a possible nine, remaining unbeaten during this run. They meet this same Italian opposition for the fourth time in less than two years, with the Dutch outfit winning just once in the last season's Europa League quarter-final first leg but ultimately paying the price in both that and 2022's inaugural Europa Conference League final.
Jose Mourinho led his men to 13 points and a place in the play-off phase, ready to take on former UCL opposition over two legs for a chance to join the last 16 stage. Now, under the guidance of former midfielder Daniele De Rossi after The Special One's sacking, with three wins from four, I Giallorossi are positioned as 14/5 underdogs in this first leg tie.
Feyenoord vs Roma Tips
Despite missing eight games through injury or suspension, Paulo Dybala has been a crucial component in Roma's attack, providing eight goals and six assists across 17 Serie A appearances.
The Argentine forward had a close rapport with Jose Mourinho but appears to also have responded well to life under De Rossi's leadership, sending three strikes home in four games.
That means he has now returned six goals and four assists in his last 11 outings, providing a goal contribution in seven of those.
There's been at least one goal in each of the last three meetings between this pair - Roma running out as 4-1 winners in last April's quarter-final second leg - giving plenty of scope for Dybala to have a hand in a goal for his side on Thursday.
Both teams have scored in four of the five matches De Rossi has taken charge of at Roma, including a mid-season friendly with Al-Shabab. The former Italian international has seen his team score at least two goals in every game, racking up a total of 12 in their four competitive outings, having netted two against the Serie A table toppers Inter Milan.
Feyenoord might have kept five consecutive clean sheets domestically, however, they managed just one shutout in their six UCL fixtures, which came in a 2-0 opener vs Celtic. There were also five goals in their last head-to-head, with BTTS successful in that April quarter-final second leg.
Romelu Lukaku has torn the Europa League up in the group stage phase, boasting five goals which is only one less than competition leading scorer Joao Pedro at Brighton. He is averaging just under a goal every two games this campaign and has found himself on the scoresheet in five of Roma's six Europa League games so far.
