It’s been a tough week for the Toffees. They dropped into the relegation zone after drawing with Fulham and the prospect of another points deduction lingers over them. Tottenham, on the other hand, moved up to 4th after mounting an excellent comeback against Brentford.
Sean Dyche’s side were enjoying an excellent run when they were hit with their 10-point deduction. So much so, that few expected them to go down despite the big blow. Fast forward a couple of months and things have stalled. Luton’s good run to form has seen them move above Everton so the pressure is on. The Toffees are appealing the sanctions they have faced but are in a precarious position as it stands.
Tottenham made a flying start to the season and led the race for the title at one stage. They dropped out of the Champions League places for a couple of months but were able to capitalise on an Aston Villa slip-up midweek.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is absent for the home side. Results have been poor without the influential midfielder. They are also missing Amadou Onana and Andre Gomes in the centre of the park.
James Maddison returned to the Tottenham team and made an impact against Brentford. He was pivotal in the team’s early season good form and will be a huge boost over the next few months. Ange Postecoglou will still be without Heung-Min Son and Yves Bissouma who are on international duty.
Everton vs Tottenham Tips
The first of our betting angles for this clash is goal kicks in the match. We are backing over 12.5 goal kicks combined with over 15.5 free kicks for Tottenham.
First up, it’s goal kicks. Everton’s home matches in the Premier League this season have seen an average of 16.64. Their league matches overall have seen the 2nd most goal kicks in the division with an average of 15.82. This is slightly lower than their home matches but well above the required mark for this bet builder to win.
Tottenham have adopted a more attacking style under Postecoglou. Their matches have seen an increased number of shots and this generally means more goal kicks. Their match average in the league this season is 14.64. There were 17 goal kicks in Spurs’ 2-2 win over Everton earlier this season.
Postecoglou’s side are the most fouled team in the league this season with their opponents averaging 14.95 per game. This number increased to 15.18 if we only include the data from their away matches.
Everton are commuting an average of 12.64 fouls per league game. That’s comfortably above the league average of 11.21. Moreover, they committed 18 fouls when they took on Spurs earlier this season.
Bet 365’s free kicks market also included offsides. Tottenham are known for playing a high defensive line and this lends itself nicely to catching the opposition offside. Spurs are forcing 3.18 offsides per game; this is only bested by Aston Villa. Everton were caught offside in their last match with Tottenham and none of the fouls were inside the box so Postecoglou’s side had 21 free kicks.
Out longshot bet uses the same angles as the main but with increased lines. We are backing Tottenham to have at least 20 free kicks and for there to be at least 17 goals kicks in the match, a bet that landed in the reverse fixture.
