Everton v Arsenal Tips: Side with the Toffees in the shots market

After Wednesday’s 1-1 home stalemate with Southampton the pressure remains on Arsenal and Mikel Arteta with the Gunners traveling to Merseyside on Saturday evening for a tea-time kick off against Everton. Arsenal are unbeaten in 25 of their last 28 games against the Toffees in all competitions and we’ve got three football tips for the game that is live on Sky Sports Main event at 5:30.
After coming off with a suspected hamstring injury against Leicester, midfielder Allan looks set to miss out for Carlo Ancelotti’s side while Lucas Digne and Fabien Delph are also injured. Seamus Coleman is pushing for a return to the squad on Saturday, though James Rodriguez is a doubt with an ongoing calf issue.
Gabriel and Granit Xhaka are both suspended for the visitors after red cards in recent fixtures. Thomas Partey will once again miss out through injury with Eddie Nketiah looking to keep his place ahead of Alexandre Lacazette up-front.
With odds of 5/4, Everton have been given a 44% implied probability of taking three points on Saturday, which could see them climb as high as second in the table. The draw is available at 5/2, with 2/1 being offered on for a win for the Gunners.
Richarlison 2+ shots on target - 2pts @ 5/2 Paddy Power
Abdoulaye Doucoure 1+ shot on target - 1.5pts @ 16/5 Paddy Power
Calvert-Lewin to score, Richarlison & Elneny to be carded 0.25pts @ 114/1
The first of three selections for Everton against Arsenal is for Richarlison to have two or more shots on target, available at the boosted price of 5/2 with Paddy Power. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin the leading goalscorer at Everton I feel Richarlison is being slightly overlooked in this market. Over the past five league games the Brazilian has actually registered more shots on target than his counterpart Calvert-Lewin.
That’s 11 shots on target in his last five for Richarlison with two or more landing on three occasions, against Chelsea, Fulham and Leeds. I fancy Everton to really take the game to Arsenal on Saturday and with back to back wins and clean sheets it’s no surprise to see them favourites. The enhanced 5/2 for 2+ shots on target with Paddy’s looks a reasonable price considering the 23-year-old has registered seven shots on target in his last two home games, with several other firms going 15/8.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is a player who I enjoy watching for Everton. A real presence in the middle of the park the Frenchman is one who really puts himself about and I’m fancying him to have at least one shot on target against Arsenal. Again, this selection comes via an enhancement from those good folk over at Paddy Power with 16/5 the offering.
Coral have this selection at 23/20, and I do feel the 16/5 is a shade too big considering the robust midfielder has registered a shot on target in three of his last six games for Don Carlo’s side. As mentioned with my first fancy, I think Everton will get plenty of shots away in a game and they will fancy themselves. Doucoure’s bursts into the box could well lead to an opportunity that see’s Bernd Leno tested between the sticks.
At 114/1, Christmas most definitely will come early if the longshot for this game lands. It arrives in the form of Dominic Calvet-Lewin to score, with both Mohamed Elneny and Richarlison to be carded.
With 11 goals already in the league this season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a young man enjoying his football. The 23-year-old has scored in eight different games in the Premier League this term and has registered at least two shots on target on nine occasions. Goals haven’t been as frequent over recent matches but I’m backing the young forward to find the scoresheet on Saturday.
The first of two players who I'm fancying to pick up a card on Merseyside is Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian has been booked in the league and in Europa this season and in the absence of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, Eleney will need to make his presence felt against a physical Everton midfield. Elneny was booked seven times in 29 appearances for Besiktas last season and it would be no surprise to see him pick up another this weekend.
Only Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up more cautions for Everton in the league last season than Richarlison. The Brazilian was shown the yellow eight times in 2019/20, and with both Elneny and Richarlison being top-priced with Betfair at 5/1 and 9/2 it feels like we are getting one of the better prices from the Same Game Multi feature.
Best of luck to anyone following the selections on Saturday. Enjoy the game and please gamble responsibly.
