Everton vs. Newcastle United Predictions: Geordies to add to the Toffee's misery
Everton welcome Newcastle to Goodison Park Thursday evening, live on Amazon Prime video. We've asked TipsterJ to preview this one and give us his best two tips.
Everton vs. Newcastle United Tips
This clash sees two sides heading in opposite directions under their new managers. The hosts have only registered one league win since Frank Lampards arrival which has seen them plummet to 17th in the Premier League, only avoiding the bottom three on goal difference. They lost 1-0 in their last outing in another home defeat at the helm of Wolves, as Connor Coady's header was enough to secure all three points to inflict more pressure on the Everton boss.
Newcastle have managed quite the turnaround since Eddie Howe has came in, along with a flurry of successful January signings. They currently occupy 14th in the Premier league, sitting nine points clear of the drop – something Newcastle fans could have only dreamt of a few months ago. The Magpies tasted defeat for only the second time since Howes arrival in their last match. A late Kai Havertz goal saw Chelsea Victorious, in a 1-0 home win. Despite the loss, Newcastle will take the positives as on another day they could’ve got a result. They will fancy their chances Vs a struggling Everton side on their current form.
I am very surprised to see Everton currently 13/10 favourites ahead of this fixture. Having watched both of these sides closely over the past few weeks, I am more than happy to side with Newcastle, but with the insurance of money back if it ends a draw.
Like I mentioned earlier, Everton have won one of their last nine, with the other eight them tasting defeat. They sit bottom of the form table over this time, with Newcastle bolting up in 3rd position. Wolves turned Everton over at Goodison the other day at a similar price, and Newcastle won 3-1 in the reverse in a game which should’ve been more, so I feel there is definite value in backing against the Blues once again.
I’m going one better for our longshot and backing the away side to come away victorious, which is 23/10 for this selection. I feel we would see goals in this match up as well – with the pressure now off of Newcastle and growing pressure on Everton something has to give. Howe's side also won with both teams scoring in their last away game.
Adding in a Bruno Guimares card boosts it to a 25/1 longshot. The Brazilian midfielder completed his first 90 minutes in a Newcastle shirt Vs Chelsea and he was carded, and shortages in midfield for Howe means he should get the nod again. He will operate on the side of Richarlison who draws a massive 2.2 fouls per game. This bet is a short as 16/1 elsewhere, so a nice price with 365 for some added interest Thursday evening.
