Frank Lampard has returned to the dugout after a year out
Everton have appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The former Chelsea and Derby boss fended off competition from Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira and caretaker Duncan Ferguson to land the job.
The 43-year-old's decision to return to management comes a year after he was sacked by Chelsea, and it's a former Chelsea boss who he replaces at Goodison Park in Rafa Benitez, who was sacked two weeks ago following an underwhelming six months in charge.
The Englishman will be joined by Joe Edwards (assistant), Paul Clement (first team coach), and Chris Jones (coach and Head of Performance), and his first task will be steering the troubled Toffees clear of the relegation zone.
Lampard inherits a struggling side in, 16th, just two places and four points above the bottom-three following a shambolic run of one win in 14 matches dating back to September.
Bookmakers SBK have Everton priced at 26/5 to be relegated from the Premier League for the first time ever, while they’re a short 1/7 to escape the drop.
Seven points off 10th placed Leicester with 18 games remaining, Everton can be backed at 10/1 (Bet365) to finish in the top-10 this season, although the top-6 may be a push at 500/1!
