Europa League Predictions: Gameweek 5 Picks

The conclusion of this season's European competition group stages edges closer and the penultimate set of fixtures for the Europa League and Europa Conference League arrive on Thursday. Find out how our expert in-house writers see these five matches involving British teams going.
Europa League/Europa Conference League Gameweek 5 Predictions
AEK Athens vs Brighton
- Thursday 30th November, 5:45pm, TNT Sports 2
Athens' only win from four Europa League fixtures was the close fought 3-2 victory at the Amex on matchday 1, whereas The Seagulls earned a draw and two wins from their proceeding three matches. Both teams have netted in three of the hosts' four matches, while eight of Brighton's last 10 have ticked off BTTS. Logic says that the visitors should have enough for their weaker European counterparts, but after drawing three of their last five outings, we're backing a score draw in Greece.
Luke Hamilton's Prediction: AEK Athens 1-1 Brighton
Backa Topola vs West Ham
- Thursday 30th November, 5:45pm, TNT Sports 1
With nine points from four games, West Ham are level with Freiburg at the top of Group A as they seek to advance straight through to the last-16 by finishing 1st. The Hammers can take a big step towards this goal by beating winless basement side TSC, who have lost three games and conceded 13 goals. With Jarrod Bowen expected to return from injury, David Moyes' men should be confident of claiming the spoils.
Jack Kitson's Prediction: Backa Topola 1-3 West Ham
Liverpool vs LASK
- Thursday 30th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 1
No side has scored more goals in the Europa League group stage than Liverpool, who have netted on 12 occasions along with Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds have enough depth in their squad to go deep into this competition and a comfortable victory should be on the cards on Thursday. The Austrian outfit have, however, scored in three of their four group matches including against Liverpool in the reverse fixture where they lost 3-1 on home soil. The visitors can get on the scoresheet, although a win for Jurgen Klopp’s side looks inevitable.
Anthony Eadson's Prediction: Liverpool 4-1 LASK
Rangers vs Aris Limassol
- Thursday 30th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 3
After a win last time out at home to Sparta Prague, Rangers are in a great position to qualify through the Groups of the Europa League. Next up they take on basement dwellers Aris Limassol and while the Cypriots have proven tricky customers, the Scottish side should prove too strong. Playing at Ibrox is a massive bonus for the Gers and with Todd Cantwell in good form in this competition, the former Norwich man could find joy again here as the favourites potentially secure qualification with minimal fuss.
Billy Grimshaw's Prediction: Rangers 2-0 Aris Limassol
Aston Villa vs Legia Warsaw
- Thursday 30th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 2
Aston Villa have been one of the surprises packages of the 23/24 season as they sit in 4th position in the league ahead of Spurs and Manchester United. Villa have won all three of their Conference League home games so far and they're massive favourites to do so again here. Legia Warsaw are only sitting in 6th position in their league and you have to feel Villa are much stronger on paper. With them having the home advantage and having all the form on their side, I fancy a blowout from Villa here.
Steven McQuillan's Prediction: Aston Villa 4-0 Legia Warsaw
