A win on Blue Monday would see The Rams climb into the automatic promotion places in the third-tier table, with a return to The Championship the prime target for Paul Warne’s side this season. Derby remain the joint-favourites along with Bolton Wanderers to achieve promotion, priced at just 4/9 to do so.
After the departure of Dino Maamria, The Brewers have appointed Martin Paterson as their new boss. Derby to Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Derby are the short priced favourites to collect all three points on Monday evening at Pride Park, with odds of just 2/9 available with Sky Bet. We are not going to get rich backing The Rams in the match result market and instead I’ve taken a lean towards the 9/10 that is available with William Hill for the hosts to win the match and over 2.5 goals to be scored.
After a shaky start to the campaign Derby have shown some strong form in front of their own fans and have tasted defeat just once in their last ten since the start of October. Six of those 10 matches have resulted in three points, but it’s well worth pointing out that all of their last four home victories have featured at least three goals.
Burton have accrued just nine of a possible 36 points on the road this season and have failed to come out on top in their last six away from The Pirelli (D1 L5). The Brewers have failed to score in four of their last six away from home and I can see it being one way traffic on Monday despite the change in the dugout for Burton.
James Collins to Score a Header
Irishman James Collins is Derby’s top scorer this season having bagged 11 league goals as well as a further two in the Papa John’s Trophy. Four of those 11 have come via his head and a fixture against relegation-threatened Burton should provide him with a chance to increase his tally. Burton’s have shipped 13 goals across their last six on the road and with Collins priced at 5/1 to score a header with Sky, I like the look of the 13/2 that is available with Stoke-based bookmaker bet365.
