Chelsea vs Wolves Predictions
After five Premier League games without a win, Chelsea’s title aspirations have taken a hit. Enzo Maresca’s side now sit fifth in the league, ten points off Liverpool. The Blues have stuttered and looked fatigued in recent weeks - a far cry from the free-flowing football we saw to start the season.
Still, in what was seen as a transition season, Chelsea will be delighted to be in Champions League conversation after a disappointing 2023/2024 campaign. On the injury front, Maresca has said that Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez are doubts, while Benoit Badiashile, Kiernan Dewsbury Hall and Wesley Fofana are confirmed out.
Wolves are languishing down in 17th place, outside the relegation zone on goals scored. Gary O’Neil was dismissed a few days before Christmas, with Vitor Pereira hired as his replacement. The Portuguese manager has inspired some fight in his side, winning at Leicester and home to Manchester United, before drawing at Tottenham. Successive 3-0 losses to Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have derailed the momentum a bit ahead of a tough run of fixtures.
Wanderers are missing a few players through injuries, with Boubacar Traore, Enso Gonzales, Sasa Kalajdzic, Toti Gomes and Yerson Mosquera all absent.
Chelsea are in a rut, failing to win any of their last five Premier League games, drawing at Everton and Crystal Palace, at home to Bournemouth and losing 1-2 at home to rivals Fulham and 2-0 at Premier League newbies Ipswich. However, Enzo Maresca’s side are still in a strong position, sitting fourth in the league, scoring 41 goals - a total only bettered by Liverpool.
Defensively, however, they have shown vulnerability, conceding 26 goals, and keeping just one clean sheet in their last eight league games. Trevoh Chalobah was recalled from his successful loan spell at Crystal Palace to add some much-needed depth, but the defensive worries remain for the Blues.
Of Chelsea’s 10 home games, eight have seen BTTS land, except for the 0-2 loss to Manchester City in the opening game and the 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
While Wolves have been poor this season conceding a league-high 48 goals, they have been potent in attack, scoring 31 goals. Of their 11 away games, seven have seen BTTS. Wolves have taken nine points from their 11 away games, with these matches averaging 3.8 goals. They lost 3-0 to Newcastle but were unlucky not to score, accumulating 1.62 xG. While they should get beat, they will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet, as they did in the 2-6 loss in the reverse.

Wolves pulled off a real coup by signing Andre in the summer, with the Brazilian linked with a host of bigger clubs. The 23-year-old has become a mainstay in the Wolves midfield, forming a solid partnership with national compatriot Joao Gomes. He is averaging 1.32 fouls per 90, making a foul in his last six games.
The defensive injury crisis has seen Santiago Bueno starting in recent weeks. The Uruguayan has now started 13 games this season, making a foul in 11 of his 13 starts, averaging 1.36 fouls per 90. Chelsea have only failed to draw a foul from a centre-back in three Premier League games.
