Chelsea vs Man United Bet Builder Tips
Chelsea's prized jewel, Cole Palmer, is in line to be rewarded for the remarkable debut season he's having with the club in the way of a new bumper deal. Mauricio Pochettino cannot shy away from his side's reliance on the former Man City prodigy, whose 13 goals in 24 appearances have spared The Blues further blushes in an already underwhelming season.
Palmer will take to the field on Thursday as the player with the most goals, and sitting second to only Bruno Fernandes' tally of 74 shots and one behind his figure of 30 shots on target despite outscoring his Man United counterpart by nine in the league. With three of these strikes coming in his last two outings, including his brace vs Burnley last weekend and a goal at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, we had to kick off proceedings with his inclusion.
Meanwhile, fellow summer signing Axel Disasi hasn't taken to his surroundings nearly as well as the 21-year-old. The Frenchman has featured 26 times for his new employers and has been caught off guard numerous times, resulting in a card on six occasions in the Premier League. Injury fears over Malo Gusto have been somewhat eased in the last 24 hours, however, should Poch decide not to risk the full back then it could well be Disasi's responsibility to fill in there.
One thing Axel has proven is that he is extremely quick and recovers well. That being said, the last thing a defender who is already struggling for form wants is to be deployed in a position less familiar to him. If positioned at right back he is sure to have his work cut out for him facing either Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford or Bruno Fernandes who have all been deployed wide left for Man United this season.
Even if Gusto returns and Disasi retains his place at centre back, he is still worth adding to your bet builders having received five of his six bookings here.
This pair of clubs have so far scored and conceded a total of 19 goals in the opening 15 minutes of league matches between them. This comes from a combined tally of 176 goals at both ends of the pitch for Chelsea and Manchester United in the 23/24 Premier League campaign, pitting the two as relatively slow starters.
Each game is a big occasion for them both, but for all of the wrong reasons. Despite defensive vulnerabilities both managers should ease themselves into this contest and find their footing before mounting any serious attacking threats.
