This competition represents the Blues' best chance of salvaging a disappointing campaign. Despite a title-contending budget, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 25 points off the pace in the Premier League.
They were also edged out of the League Cup final by Liverpool. Although there is still a faint chance of Europe depending on the coalition, the FA Cup looks to be Pochettino’s best hope of staying in the hot seat.
The visit of Leicester will not be as much of a procession as the 4/9 price suggests though.
For a large part of the campaign, it looked like the Foxes were going to break the Championship points total.
However, after losing three of their last five league games this no longer looks likely and Enzo Maresca’s side could even end the weekend in second place.
The Foxes boss rang the changes in the last round and with an instant return to the Premier League a priority, he may do the same here.
Chelsea vs Leicester City Tips
At the prices available, backing both teams to score appeals on Sunday.
The Blues have conceded in 15 of their 22 games on home soil, netting in 17 of those matches with this bet clicking on 11 occasions.
The Foxes are also the joint highest scorers in the second tier (74) and have only failed to net in two of their 43 games this campaign.
Even if Maresca does rotate, he has great squad depth at his disposal and this clash can be viewed as a free hit for the visitors as no one really expects them to get anything.
Given the magnitude of this clash for Chelsea, their talisman Cole Palmer should get the nod despite being rested in Chelsea’s last round victory over Leeds.
The attacker has been a revelation for the Blues since signing in the summer, netting 11 times domestically and twice in the League Cup.
Although he is yet to break his duck in this competition, with a goals-per-90 average of 0.57 he is worth a punt to net this weekend.
