Chelsea v Leeds United Tips: Bamford to rack up the attempts at the Bridge

Over a quarter of a way through the Premier League season and both Chelsea and Leeds United will be happy with how they have navigated the first ten games. Both teams face off on Saturday at 8:00pm, with the game being shown live on Sky Sports Main Event. Our man @AnthonyEadson is on hand with three plays for the game as part of our football tips on BettingOdds.com this weekend.
After scoring a remarkable four goals in the Champions League on Wednesday, that included a perfect hat-trick, Oliver Giroud has left Frank Lampard with a tough decision to make for whether he plays the Frenchman or remains with Tammy Abraham up top. Chelsea have no injury concerns for the game which could see the Blues go nine unbeaten in the league.
Leeds have several players who are a doubt for the game including Jamie Shackleton, Diego Llorente, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison who came off in the game against Everton with a knock.
Unsurprisingly, Chelsea are the favourites with the bookmakers to get the three points, priced at 8/15 to do so, an implied probability of 65%. The draw is available to be backed at 7/2, with a win for Marcelo Biela’s Leeds being offered at 5/1.
Patrick Bamford 3+ shots - 2pts @ 7/5 Betfair, Paddy Power
Ben Chilwell 1+ shot on target - 1.5pts @ 9/4 Coral, 17/10 Betfair, Paddy Power
Werner & Bamford 1+ shot on target, Dallas & Klich to be carded 0.25pts @ 55/1 Paddy Power
The first of three selections I’m backing at Stamford Bridge on Saturday is for Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford to have three or more shots in the game. With seven goals in his first ten games this season Bamford will be delighted with his returns so far, however his goal conversion rate of 21% is the lowest of any striker in the top ten scorers in the Premier League this season. The 27-year-old can often need a lot of chances and that was a familiar case when in the Championship.
Having a look into Patrick Bamford’s shot data from this season and he has actually taken three or more shots in seven of his last eight league games. Bamford is the only player to have a shot on target in every league game this season and has attempted more shots than any other player in the division this term with 40. With an average of 4.6 shots per game away from home this season and after Bamford attempted six shots against Everton last week, I think we could have a value play here at 7/5 with Paddy Power and Betfair.
Next up in this trio is Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell to have one or more shots on target. This is currently available at 9/4 with Coral, or slightly shorter at 17/10 with Betfair. I’ve been impressed with the left-back since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer. The 23-year-old’s attacking play has been prominent in his matches for far for the Blues with Chilwell popping up at the far post on several occasions.
In terms of shots on target, Ben Chilwell has registered at least one shot on target in three of his four home league matches this season. The former Leicester City man notched three in total against Sheffield United last month at the Bridge and with Chelsea expected to do most of the attacking in this game I think Chilwell could register his ninth shot on target in all competitions on Saturday.
As always, I’ve picked out something at a bit of a price and this time I’ve opted for Timo Werner and Patrick Bamford to have one or more shots on target with both Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich to be carded at 55/1, again with Paddy Power.
No player currently has a better shots on target per game average at Chelsea this season in the league than German Timo Werner who looks to be settling in London. Werner has landed a shot on target in six of his last eight games in the league and I’d be surprised not to see him have one against Leeds.
Patrick Bamford is the only player with three or more appearances to register a shot on target in every game this season. No player in the league has taken more shots than Bamford this season and he should be the main threat for the visitors.
Stuart Dallas has played in a variety of positions already this season for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but I think he should be back at right-back for this game. The versatile Northern Irishman has been booked on three occasions in the league this season and is a little overpriced in this market in my opinion.
Mateusz Klich averages the most fouls per game of any Leeds player so far this term with nine more then anyone else. The central midfielder also has three cards to his name already in the league and is another I’m backing to pick up a card. Chelsea have only picked up 11 yellow cards in 10 games this season, so I’ve therefore swayed towards two cards for Leeds rather than for one each in this Same Game Multi.
55/1 is available on the longshot from Paddy Power. Enjoy the game, and please always gamble responsibly.
