Chelsea vs. Liverpool Predictions: a Bet Builder and longshot for the Carabao Cup final

Live on Sky Sports, Chelsea go up against Liverpool in this massive Carabao Cup final at Wembley this Sunday at 4.30pm. Liverpool come into the final in emphatic form having won their last 9 consecutive games in all competitions. Liverpool overcame Arsenal in the semifinal over 2 legs while Chelsea comfortably beat their rivals Tottenham in both legs to qualify for this final.

Klopp’s men were brutal in their 6-0 win over Leeds in the Premier League midweek and confidence will be sky high ahead of this final.

Chelsea come into this in decent form as well going unbeaten in their last 7 games in all competitions. They won the FIFA Club World Cup in this run and beat the French champions Lille 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 midweek.

This is a clash of 2 elite English clubs who relish these big games and would love to add another trophy to their cabinet. The head to head record since Tuchel took over Chelsea is favourable for the Blues as they have not lost to Liverpool in 3 meetings but current form favours Liverpool.

This is an incredibly hard game to predict which is why I will be avoiding any result based selections in my preview.

They play with a high defensive line catching teams offside very often with their efficient offside trap. Chelsea were caught offside 3+ times in all of their 3 meetings against Liverpool since Tuchel has taken over. I can see them clearing the Over 2.5 offsides line again here.

Combining these 3 selections gives us a cracking bet builder @ 5/6 and I am happy to place a 1pt stake on that as our main bet for the Carabao Cup Final.

Christian Pulisic is in fine form at the moment for Chelsea scoring in his last outing for them in the Champions League against Lille. He also scored a lovely goal against Liverpool the last time Chelsea played them in the Premier League and I think he could take advantage of Liverpool’s high defensive line and get in behind to score another goal.

Salah is having the season of his life having scored 27 goals in 30 appearances for Liverpool and also scoring against Chelsea twice already this season in 2 meetings against them.

Finally, Trent has 2 assists in 2 appearances in this competition and also got an assist against Chelsea in their 2-2 draw at Stamford bridge. Combining these 3 selections gives us a massive longshot @ 32/1 and I am happy to stake a very small 0.25pt stake on that. Important to note that this longshot landed the last time these 2 teams played each other.
