Chelsea vs. Blackburn Betting Tips: 9/4 and 22/1 picks for League Cup clash
Five-time League Cup winners Chelsea host Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening. We’ve asked our own rambling Rover Anthony Eadson to provide us with his best bets from the capital, which includes a 22/1 longshot.
Just as Chelsea thought they had turned a corner, they lost at home to Brentfor. Their latest defeat against the Bees on home soil came via a 2-0 scoreline, thanks to goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo. The Blues are priced at just 1/10 to advance to the next round, while they can be backed at 1/5 to get the job done in 90 minutes.
Blackburn Rovers had put together three consecutive victories before suffering defeat at home to Swansea on Saturday afternoon. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side knocked Premier League opposition in both the FA Cup and League Cup last season. For those who fancy the visitors to make it through to the last eight, 11/2 is available in the ‘to qualify’ market, and 11/1 to win in normal time.
Chelsea vs Blackburn Rovers Tips
In his press conference on Tuesday, Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson confirmed that defensive midfielder Lewis Travis is fit and will be starting the game at Stamford Bridge. It may not be the most eye-watering of prices but I like the look of him to pick up a card in this Carabao clash, with 9/4 on show with Sky Bet.
Since the start of the 2019/20 season, the tough-tackling 27-year-old has been shown 40 yellow cards in 150 starts in The Championship. Travis has racked up yellow card hauls of 10,10 and 13 across the last three campaigns and already has three to his name this term. Up against a skillful Chelsea side it would be no surprise to see Travis make numerous cynical tackles and end up referee in Tim Robinson’s notebook.
Some bookmakers go just 8/1 that Joe Rankin-Costello finds the net on Wednesday, while Unibet have a stand-out best price offering of 22/1 available.

I’ll be having a small punt on JRC to score against Chelsea and the key angle here is that, in recent weeks, he has been moved from playing as a right-back into midfield.
Since his switch into a more advanced role Rankin-Costello has scored in two of his five league matches and has let off at least one shot in each of the quintet.
There is no denying this is a bit of a price-play with other firms as short as a single-figure odds. However, with Blackburn being the highest scorers so far in the tournament and Chelsea missing as many as eight players due to injury, there is scope for Rovers and hopefully Rankin-Costello to get on the scoresheet.
