Championship Tips: Fulham and Stoke to secure wins on Wednesday

There’s another flurry of Championship fixtures on Wednesday evening and with six fixtures all kicking off at 7:45pm. We’ve tasked our man @AnthonyEadson to give us his best Championship tips which currently pay 5/2 as a double, however we have been given a boost by the lads at Paddy Power which now takes us to an attractive looking 3/1.
Championship Tips
First up on the agenda for Wednesday is Stoke against Barnsley at the bet365 stadium where I’ve taken a lean towards the hosts picking up all three points. It’s been a promising start to the season for the Potters with 13 points on the board from their opening six matches.
Michael O’Neil’s side came from a goal down in their game against Huddersfield at the weekend, scoring twice in 13 minutes to give them their fourth win of the campaign.
Stoke now sit third in the table and their only defeat so far came against promotion hopefuls West Brom. Furthermore, they have won all three of their home fixtures so far and look good to make it four against Barnsley on Wednesday evening.
The Tykes have had a tough start to the season with just one win on the board after their opening six matches. Barnsley were well beaten by Bournemouth at the weekend to a 3-0 scoreline in a game where they only produced just 0.4xG. They have only taken 49 shots this term which is the second lowest in the division after Peterborough and all things considered the home win looks a strong possibility.
The second half of the double I’m recommending comes from the midlands where Birmingham City take on Fulham at St Andrews. I’m backing Fulham to get the win on here despite their unbeaten start to the campaign coming to an end on Saturday.
Marco Silva’s side were beaten 1-0 by Blackpool in their most recent game however they did take 17 shots and created 0.82xG in comparison to just 8 shots and 0.46xG from their opponents on the day.
Fulham still sit second in the Championship and are the 7/4 favourites to be crowned league winners at the end of the season. The Cottagers have won four of their last five matches including scoring five on the road against Huddersfield and a 3-0 win over Stoke at the end of September.
Birmingham have been much improved under Lee Bowyer and put in a solid performance when beating Derby County 2-0 last Friday. The Blues have the ability to cause Fulham problems with players such as Tanith Chong and Jeremie Bela but I’m fancying a big response from the visitors after their defeat at Blackpool and at odds-against I’m happy to back them to pick up the three points.
