Champions League Gameweek 5 Predictions
Lazio vs Celtic
- Tuesday 28th November, 5:45pm, TNT Sports 1
Celtic look to be heading for an early Champions League exit after registering one point from their opening four games. Meanwhile, Lazio have seven points on the board, which includes a 2-1 win at Parkhead. Celtic, who lost 6-0 to Atletico Madrid last time out, have only won one group stage away game in 13 years and I don’t fancy their chances away to a Lazio side seeking a win that could fire them into the knockout stages.
Jack Kitson's Prediction: Lazio 2-0 Celtic
Man City vs RB Leipzig
-
Tuesday 28th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 1
Pep Guardiola will be furious to have seen his side's 23-game winning streak at home end on Saturday, but City have a great opportunity to bounce back in a match they won 3-1 at the beginning of October. Leipzig, like their Manchester counterparts, have already qualified for the knockout stages, but could go level on points with the group leaders by defeating City on their own patch. There should be a few goals at a cold and wet Etihad, however, we can't see past the hosts cruising to victory by a margin of 2+.
Luke Hamilton's Prediction: Man City 3-1 RB Leipzig
PSG vs Newcastle
- Tuesday 28th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 2
PSG will be out for revenge on Tuesday after their Champions League defeat away at Newcastle in October. Eddie Howe’s side have struggled on the road this season and have won just two of their last nine away matches across all competitions. The visitors also have a lengthy list of absentees for this clash which could see PSG come out winners in a high scoring contest.
Anthony Eadson's Prediction: PSG 3-1 Newcastle
Galatasaray vs Man Utd
-
Wednesday 29th November, 5:45pm, TNT Sports 1
After a Garnacho stunner set the tone for a 3-0 win for Man United at Goodison Park over the weekend, the confidence in the Red Devils camp will be up since the last time these two teams faced off at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's men were looking fragile in early October and after a strong start in the reverse fixture, with goals from Rasmus Hojlund, everything went sour after Marcus Rashford saw red for a stamp. The Turks turned things around with a man advantage to record a famous come from behind 3-2 win in Manchester, and while United are favourites for revenge here I think a score draw looks the most sensible selection.
Billy Grimshaw's Prediction: Galatasaray 2-2 Man Utd
Arsenal vs Lens
- Wednesday 28th November, 8pm, TNT Sports 2
Arsenal sit four points clear at the top of their Champions League group with three wins and one loss. Their sole defeat in Europe this season comes against Lens but it's tough to see the French side getting a win at the Emirates. A win here would see them progress through the groups and I imagine Arteta would like to wrap that up as soon as he can. The Gunners are undefeated at home this season and with them being a much better team than Lens on paper, this should be a straightforward win for the Premier League side. The bookmakers have them as huge favourites and we agree with them.
Steven McQuillan's Prediction: Arsenal 4-0 Lens
