Celtic vs. Rangers Predictions: The Bhoys to get both hands on the title at Parkhead
We're into the business end of the Scottish Premiership and we have a massive game at Celtic Park on Sunday lunchtime. Leaders Celtic are six points clear with just four games remaining, yet come up against their Old Firm rivals Rangers here, in a game that could go a huge way to deciding what half of Glasgow the title will end up in. We've asked @OddsT3rrier to preview this titanic tussle and pick out his best two bets for the match.
Celtic vs. Rangers Tips
Both sides come into this match in superb form; Celtic are unbeaten in the League since the 19th September (a shock 1-0 loss to Livingston) and have won 24 out of 28 fixtures since. Rangers have lost just twice since the 7th August - both times to their bitter city rivals Celtic. While Celtic may have the bragging rights in the Premiership this season, Rangers knocked them out of the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals two weeks ago and arguably have had the better season, reaching the semi finals of the Europa League and with a chance to win their first major European trophy since the 71/72 European Cup Winners' Cup.
Ange Postecoglou is without Josip Juranovic and is sweating on the fitness of Nir Bitton, but has the majority of his squad available.
Gio Van Bronckhorst is likely without Aaron Ramsey who missed out against RB Leipzig on Thursday. He is of course without injured Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi.
This is a tough one in games such as these but I'm going for Celtic to win and clinch the title (ok not mathematically) in front of their fervent home support. As mentioned earlier the Hoops have had the better of the Premiership head-to-heads this season and it took extra time for Rangers to beat them in the Cup semi-final. Not only that, but Rangers have key injuries and have two massive cup matches upcoming; a tough 2nd leg against Leipzig at Ibrox on Thursday and a Scottish Cup final against Hearts later in May.
Obviously the Gers have to win here to have any hope of clawing back Celtic from a 52nd league title but you could slightly forgive them for having one eye on that massive game in midweek. Only one goal down after a late winner for Red Bull in Germany, Rangers have a real chance of getting to the Europa League final which would be a far bigger achievement than a 56th league win.
Celtic have nothing else to play for and will be desperate to win the title in front of their home fans and against their old enemy. I like the 10/11 on offer for them to get it done right here.
My 2nd pick is a long shot based around Rangers captain and talisman James Tavernier. The right back has had a season for the ages, Scoring seven goals in the League and six goals in the Europa League. The 30-year old Englishman is also a walking yellow card - picking up nine in the Premiership so far this season.
I've combined Tavernier to have 1+ shot on target and to be carded at 7/1 using bet365's bet builder feature. Tavernier has 21 shots on target this season from 32 starts and four in his last 3 games (including one against Celtic at Ibrox). This line has cleared on four occasions already this season and in front of a partisan crowd I can see it landing again here.
