Celtic vs. Atletico Madrid Betting Tips: 11/8 and 20/1 picks for Champions League meeting
Celtic look to align their European aspirations with the club's domestic success when Atletico Madrid make the trip to Glasgow on Wednesday for the pair's latest Champions League fixture.
Celtic maintained their seven point gap at the peak of the SPL table with another pasting over the weekend, however, it's time that Brendan Rodgers' side had their European performance match their domestic dominance. The Bhoys have been handed two straight losses in the Champions League by Feyenoord and Lazio, leaving their premier European competition status in jeopardy.
In Atletico Madrid's case they've had an acceptable start in both La Liga and the Champions League. Diego Simeone's side were frustratingly held to a score draw on match day 1 with Lazio before edging out Feyenoord at the start of the month. Another win for the Indios could help them cut away from 2nd placed Lazio in Group E.
Celtic vs Atletico Madrid Tips
Celtic's next big money star Matt O'Riley has had a whirlwind of a start to this latest campaign.
The 22-year-old has scored six goals in nine Scottish Premiership matches, sitting at the top of the goalscoring charts for both his team and the entire division.
He's let off 26 shots in the league, with 15 of those finding their target. That's given this bet a successful landing in eight out of a possible nine SPL ventures this term.
Atletico Madrid obviously pose a much higher threat than some of the Scottish fodder Celtic are served up, but with home advantage and O'Riley having tested the opposition keeper in this side's last UCL clash with Lazio at Celtic Park, we believe the in-form Danish international can ruffle a few feathers in front of goal on Wednesday.
For something at a much larger price we like the look of Antoine Griezmann to score and be carded in Glasgow.
The French forward has netted seven goals and been booked three times domestically this term. A third La Liga booking, coupled with his one caution in this season's Champions League competition, means the 32-year-old has now received more cards in this campaign than he did across the entire previous season!
He's also in fine goalscoring form at the moment, whipping up a hat-trick against 10-man Celta Vigo on Saturday, which now takes his tally to five goals in his last three outings.
This bet has clicked twice already in the 2023/24 campaign, giving real support to the 20/1 on show with BetMGM - especially when it's double the odds with the new bookmaker compared to Paddy Power/Betfair's pricing.
