Carabao Cup 2023/24 Odds: Liverpool favourites ahead of Chelsea and Newcastle

There are now just eight clubs remaining in the 2023/24 Carabao Cup following an eventful fourth round which gobbled up the challenges of holders Man Utd and well-fancied Arsenal.
As a result, the outright betting market has had another shake-up as the remaining teams begin to eye up glory in the first major domestic trophy of the campaign.

Liverpool: 2/1
Out at 9/1 before the competition got under way, Liverpool now find themselves as the 2/1 favourites to win the Carabao Cup for the second time in three seasons.
The Reds have won the League Cup more times than any other club, adding a ninth success as recently as 2022, in a season which also saw them win the FA Cup.
After a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, Jurgen Klopp's side have enjoyed an encouraging start to the season. They came from behind to beat Leicester in the third round, then fended off the challenge of Bournemouth, now they are preparing for a tricky contest at home to West Ham, who knocked out Arsenal.
Chelsea: 7/2
Chelsea are now the second favourites at 7/2 after they avoided an upset at the hands of Championship side Blackburn to progress through to the quarter-finals.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have struggled for consistency in the league (W3 D3 L4), however, the 1-0 cup victory over Brighton followed by the win over Rovers should inject a dose of confidence into the squad.
The Blues have lifted the League Cup three times this century, but not since 2014/15.
Newcastle: 4/1
Newcastle have arguably been the stand-out side in this year's competition after knocking out both Manchester clubs.
They conjured up an impressive 1-0 defeat of Man City in the third round thanks to a second-half goal from Alexander Isak, then backed this up with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Old Trafford.
Last season's runners-up will be determined to go one better this season and end their lengthy search for a major trophy, which dates back to the 1955 FA Cup.
The Toon's odds have subsequently shortened from 6/1 to 4/1, although they've now been handed another tricky encounter away to Chelsea.
West Ham: 9/1
We all know how West Ham love a cup run after winning the Europa Conference League under David Moyes last season, while they reached the Europa League semi-finals the season before.
Domestically, it's a different story. The Hammers have never won the League Cup while the second of their FA Cup triumphs dates back to 1979/80.
After avoiding the banana skin of Lincoln in the third round of this year's League Cup, they produced a brilliant performance in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal.
Their reward?
A trip to Anfield.
The Others
Hot on West Ham's heels you'll find Everton at 10/1. After a difficult start to the season, The Toffees are growing in confidence under Sean Dyche and will now be targetting a place in the semi-finals when they host Fulham (13/1) in December.
One of Middlesbrough (Championship) or Port Vale (League) will also appear in the top-four with Boro available at 16/1 to go all the way, while outsiders Port Vale can be found at 250/1.
