Cape Verde vs Cameroon Prediction: Aboubakar to take The Indomitable Lions through in style

Monday afternoon sees the conclusion of Group A in the Africa Cup Of Nations. Cameroon and Burkina Faso have qualified while Cape Verde are currently one of the highest placed 3rd teams. That could change here however, as they come up against the in-form hosts Cameroon. Cameroon are flying high having won both their opening games including a 4-1 demolition of Ethiopia last time out. We've asked OddsTerrier to cover this crucial tie and he's picked out two tips for you to mull over.
Cameroon are big favourites in this one but may still represent value at 7/10? The draw is best priced at 5/2 and the Cape Verde option is around 11/2. Cameroon are already qualified in top spot but will want to keep up the momentum from the two earlier wins and will likely be playing the same XI that dispatched Ethiopia. Top scorer and captain Vincent Aboubakar will be hoping to add to his tally of four goals and is a best priced 1/3 to grab the Golden Boot.
Cape Verde really need at least a point to ensure progress to the knockout stages, but that will be a tough ask here against a spirited Cameroon side that is displaying genuine quality. Their own leading scorer Júlio Tavares is an injury doubt but given the stakes resting on this match, will likely start.
Cape Verde vs Cameroon Tips
First up we've gone for the total goals market. I feel the overs selection is over priced here. The unders markets have been massively skewed from the first round of matches that saw so many matches ending 1-0 or 0-0 but we've not seen that trend continue in the second round of games. Cape Verde will set up defensively and hope for that elusive point, but If Cameroon break their resistance early then they will need to come out of their shell and attempt to score themselves. This could lead to the likes of Aboubakar, Choupa-Moting and the impressive Karl Toko Ekambi to run riot up front. With all this in mind and with the hosts buoyant and free scoring, I'm going to go against the grain and take the overs at 6/4 for my main bet.
Next up and its our old friend Vincent Aboubakar again. The 29-year-old has earnt rave reviews for his performances in the two earlier group matches. Firstly showing calmness and nerve to dispatch two penalties to win the game versus Burkina Faso and then scoring another brace in open play, in the space of two minutes against a hapless Ethiopian outfit.
Aboubakar is extremely short to score anytime (13/8) and we like the boosted price on offer at our friends William Hill on him to score two or more goals. The odds have been increased from 9/1 to 12/1 and I think it's got a decent chance of landing again here. Aboubakar is running hot and is the fulcrum of all Cameroon attacks. Combine this with the fact he is on penalty duty and there's a fair chance that he could bag a couple more.
We'll be having a small nibble at those odds.
If you decide to follow these selections, then good luck and remember to gamble responsibly.
